Summer 2019 Roster Discussion

I'm convinced we have to do something. Being stuck in the pack in the west isn't going to get us anywhere but middling picks and 1st/2nd round pink slips.

Tobias Harris is the third wheel we'll need, but think he'll stay in Philly.

I'm a Redick fan. But Redick does absolutely nothing that improves our current team.

You don't think a starting lineup with Donovan, Redick, Ingles, Favors and Gobert is an improvement over what we currently have? Even if Exum emerges as our starter, wouldn't be that much better bringing Redick, Korver, O'Neale, and Crowder off the bench?

He shoots the ball. He scores. Plus, I don’t think Quin would feel obligated to play him “just because,” and that, alone, can be a big upgrade point.

He does not create shots off the dribble. We need shot creation. More shooters does not solve the fundamental problem we face. We already have shooters. But the offense stagnates because Donovan is the only one on the roster who is a threat to break anyone down off of the dribble. When the defense is able to slow him down or he's not feeling it, we struggle. And we'd struggle no matter how many shooters are on the floor.

We can get Redick. And he'll shoot it well. Just like Korver. I'm sure of that. But the offense will have the exact same problems.

Not really, no. It's a roster with the same problem our current roster has.

You are making very good points and I agree with you to a certain extent.

If we can't get one of these few good free agent guys who can create offense, I think Redick is still an improvement over what we currently have. I would rather start next season with Redick (a proven NBA specialist) than Rubio, some inconsistent project like Oubre, or another guy who might not have a specialty. At the very least, Redick is yet another player that opponents have to gameplan for when they face us.

i don't think that's a given He 100% completely dodged the question of staying long term when asked by a reporter in Philly couple days ago

I think Niko could be really solid for us. He is a solid player.

But if we are spending $20+, I would rather get the guy who has shown flashes of dominance. When Love is on, the guy is a game changer.

I need to see some great playoff performances from Niko before I start getting excited about giving $20 and dumping Favors to do it.

i'd much rather pay Love 30 mil than Niko 20

If Niko is about 15 sure

You got a link? All I can see is he said some vague stuff on JJs pod.

i'm trying to remember i think it was on twitter, but it was a video

I don’t think it’s a done deal either... if they have a locker room issue or suck in the playoffs I’m sure he will look elsewhere...

He did say he values loyalty... and that is certainly something we have. Ben Jimmy and Joel all seem like guys that could rub someone the wrong way... Joel is more funny and honest so I’m sure some guys love him... just a big personality.

Request a meeting with him and Boban and keep them together. The issue is Philly has the 5 year contract trump card... he ain’t leaving for less dollars.
