Summer League Notes And Discussion

I think the offensive side of the ball in SL translates less than the defensive side. I'm not expecting 30+ games on the regular but I think it shows he can score. I think the D translates a bit less than 1 to 1. I think he will be a better than good NBA defender from day 1 and he will just get better and better.

I'm not reading too much into it, but I am pleased and excited about what is to come.

The Don plays with a special degree of assertiveness. Positively crazy like Patrick Beverly. I believe he can defend 1s and Rubio is tall and good enough to check most 2s.

Wow. Just wow.

So you have bumped him ahead of Jingles, Hood and X already :)

That's fine if you want neither Hood or X to extend...

Jordan Bell with an interesting stat line. just 5 points, but 11 rebs and 6 blks - and a plus/minus of +27. the +/- is notable because the next high +/- on his team was 12 and the next highest for the game was Perry Ellis at 15. very unusual for a guy to play 32 minutes, have a +/- of 27 (and be that much higher than everybody else on his team) and his team lose the game. IOW, when he wasn't in, GSW got killed.
One more thing i just noticed. Bell got a 5x5 in this game. In additio to the 6 blocks, he had 5 steals and 5 assists.

He did not miss a shot. Impressive.

That drive/basket at 1:10 is awesome. Three guys all over him as he drives the hoop and he manages to not only step around the guy trying to draw the charge but get it up between the other two guys and land totally balanced like no one else was on the court. Burks would have gotten rejected and landed hard on his shoulder.

I like taking some pressure off Mitchell initially. He's looked great in SUMMER LEAGUE,but he's also struggled shooting.

He and Dante had some great chemistry going in the Utah SL. I say bring both off the bench at the 1/2. Are opposing subs going to be able to match up with those two? Add Burks in to the mix at the 3 and JJ at the 4. That has the makings of a small, but dynamic group.

JJ comes in at the 6 min mark in my scenario for Favors. At the quarter break, the rest of the subs come in. Gobert sits after a full quarter, with Favs coming back in at the 5.

Starters:
Rubio, Hood, Ingles, Gobert, Favs (JJ after 6 mins)

Subs:
Exum, Mitchell, Burks, JJ, Favs (coming back in)
I love it
