Bilal is not an aggressive shooter off the ball, but he inserts himself into the game as a slasher/PnR ball handler. It is a much simpler path for Hendricks to become asolid offensive NBA player, but Bilal is more likely to be an initiator. And it makes sense, Hendricks is a good shooter whereas Bilal played PG for most of his career. They are different players, but neither is dominating a lot of the offensive action.

I think we probably make a bigger deal out of this than we should. If you're watching a game and zeroing in on a single player, chances are you'll find yourself bored by all the times nothing happens unless they have that clear #1 role. Keyonte is one of the highest usage guys in summer league and we still have complaints about him getting frozen out. It's just a different viewing experience when you're focusing on one guy versus watching a game normally.

15/7 average on good efficiency. Similar block steal numbers (in college vs. Bilal summer league). I think the difference is Taylor is invisible but productive and defenses are certainly aware of his visibility. I don't have a problem with not dominating the ball at all... and Taylor was also the heart of the defense so he was quite visible on that end. Bilal has certainly popped and plays a position that is somewhat less important.

I think the reason it was so apparent was I literally was asked multiple times "which kid was Wemby's teammate?" during his game. I not only had to find him I had to think if he was on the floor... don't take it too hard. I haven't even watched the other games.

Nah... there is PJ Tucker levels of invisible and there is the surprising box score guy... give me the latter. Like with Lauri... I'd be like... he's been quiet this half... oh he has 11 pts and 4 boards... I guess he's just been average.

Invisibility is not the concern per se... especially with a shooter... as it means they are impacting what is going on the floor because the defense is paying attention. Even when he wasn't getting the ball he was hiding in the corner... he'd be involved in screening actions or be a ball mover at the top.
 
With regard to Bilal... I'm just not a huge believer or skeptic. I'll judge him more in a couple years I guess. I wish Washington would at least give him more reps as the initiator so we have a bit more to judge him on... and tbh should likely shut Davis down as he is only hurting his stock and the players around him. Sometimes is okay to call it early on a bad pick.

I think you would have similar questions about Hendricks. A normal fan wouldn’t pick out the guys who mostly stands in the corner as a top 10 pick. I have no life and I still found myself being bored to death by the film. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but Hendricks is definitely not the type of player you feel and notice a lot each and every play. And this was at UCF.

Not really... a floor spacer and rim finisher being invisible means resources are coming his way... which should open up other stuff for other players. While he might not be high usage... he was effective. An initiating wing being used as a floor spacer... when the shot is not there yet is a concern. If Taylor isn't getting his its because initiators aren't finding him or the defense is committing to covering him. One guy can be invisible and still be a positive. Its why shooting is so damn important. YOU may not notice him... the defense is acutely aware. Until they let Bilal initiate he will be a floor spacer and likely not a good one. Not getting that chance in summer league is not the end of the world... but if we had drafted him I would be pissed if they were letting Davis cook while Bilal chills.

He's also going to look much better the higher quality players he plays with. He's not someone who is going to stand out in SL (at least on offense). I think by the end of the season he should be a solid rotation player who you are excited about going into year 2.
 
Gradey is going to be nasty in the NBA. Guaranteed. That dude came off a screen and busted and it looked incredible.
