Summer League Thread

Not really... a floor spacer and rim finisher being invisible means resources are coming his way... which should open up other stuff for other players. While he might not be high usage... he was effective. An initiating wing being used as a floor spacer... when the shot is not there yet is a concern. If Taylor isn't getting his its because initiators aren't finding him or the defense is committing to covering him. One guy can be invisible and still be a positive. Its why shooting is so damn important. YOU may not notice him... the defense is acutely aware. Until they let Bilal initiate he will be a floor spacer and likely not a good one. Not getting that chance in summer league is not the end of the world... but if we had drafted him I would be pissed if they were letting Davis cook while Bilal chills.

Right….I’m just saying that if being invisible is a bad thing, you are not going to like the Hendricks film. IMO, it’s not necessarily a good or bad thing. Ryan Rollins and Johnny Davis aren’t invisible but they freaking stink.

The predictive utility of SL is basically nothing to begin with, but children/100 who recognize each player is definitely not a metric I care about lol.

Air Podz has shown me why I was super high and eventually kind of low on him.

The experience of playing with the adult team will be completely different and I do ultimately believe the GSW style will hugely benefit him if he can transition to not feeling that ball the entire game.

Man, I'm a bit shocked at how patient and poised Ausar is in the half-court. Wish he was a bit more aggressive, but he seems to make the right plays. I think when this dude gets on a team and is in a real concept he's going to be a very good player. Him and Cade are going to be a high IQ duo w/ real size/athleticism.

It wasn't all children lol. And the teenagers I was with would run circles around many of the folks here... not casuals at all. It was more a thing of them asking then me thinking... "he's not in... oh wait... there he is". It wasn't about recognizing him.

bufkin has been interesting in this game. but the one that it is apparent, and it was apparent if you ever watched him at michigan it's that he's not a PG. he can shoot, he can score, damn near impossible to stay in front of, but he just isn't a natural passer/playmaker and when he goes to the bucket (again, just a beast to stay in front of) he has tunnel vision and as a result has had it ripped away, and been blocked 2 or 3 times - again, finding people just doesn't come naturally. but man, as a shooter/scorer, the extra spacing is going to be great for him - so damn quick off the bounce and a beautiful stroke from distance.

As someone who was very high on Bufkin, yeah I’d definitely agree that we just overlooked that he didn’t play PG at Michigan and assumed it would be fine. I haven’t caught his games, but it looks like his biggest issue right now is that he can’t throw it in the ocean.

Ausar doesnt seem to have much scoring/shooting ability, but he so good at everything else and he's such an athletic force with the ball teams have to respect him which opens up his playmaking. When the offense comes along he is nasty.
