The status quo for many politicians. Vote the party line, work for their pet projects and stay elected.

Exactly exactly. Totally agree. Both sides are equal guys. Both parties are the same. Obama would’ve totally blasted Ford last night if Kavanaugh had been his nominee. Harry Reid would’ve acted exactly like McConnell by holding up garland’s pick for a year and then jamming Kavanaugh down our throat. Also, democrats and republicans view sexual assault the same, which is why Al Franken is still in the senate.

What to believe? Facts? Alt facts? Ford’s words or Kavanaugh’s words? It’s all the same. Let’s remain cynical and not believe in anything or anyone cuz clinton or something.

I dunno, man. With exceptions, of course, the optics are only terrible for the GOP if you're looking through the lens as a) an opponent of the GOP or b) a politically agnostic individual. Loyal Republicans-- i.e. those who voted Trump into office, and incredibly still defend him and his whole vibe to this point-- will be every bit as skeptical and dickish as Senator Hatch, or as Senator Graham was in his post-hearing comments. The same mindset and rationale that lead Trump constituents to say they'd vote Trump in for a second term leads them to watch Dr. Blasey-Ford's hearing, and somehow explain this away as some sort of politically-motivated, clandestine setup. We all know these people-- they're in our families and neighborhoods, and they're evidently the majority.
Oh yeah I completely agree on that point. Hell, yesterday there was a Trump supporting woman on the news saying men groping girls was 'not a huge deal' in front of her teenage daughters. There was an NBC poll showing 56% of Republicans support Kavenaugh even if the allegations are true, so yeah, this hearing isn't going to faze them at all.

That said, there are GOP Senators who can't rely solely on the base to get reelected, and you can bet their opponents are already putting together ads with footage from this hearing.

So it's entirely possible that Kavanaugh doesn't really know who Ford is, or perhaps doesn't know her by her married name, but she sure seems confident in identifying Kavanaugh and Judge by name. That seems a bit odd, but it's possible. She knows who he is, but he doesn't know who she is.

Based on the stories circulating about the heavy drinking he and Mark did as youths it's entirely possible he simply doesn't remember the encounter.

Wow, Kavanaugh's angry opening statement is really a bad look following Ford's compelling testimony.

i cant wait for the next justice that trump will anoint. odds are it will be to replace ginsburg.

that hearing will escalate even more. it might cause a civil war. real hard working men vs communistic left wing leechers!!

people alive today seeing what the left is capable off! the millions of peole killed by mao, stallin, hitler, mousilini, maduro, chavez!

LOLZ

Blazey-Ford admits she told her story to the Washington Post because she was trying to stop Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court. So the timing of her accusation was politically motivated.

"Who was it - what's his name?"

Are we expected to believe she didn't answer that to anyone all these years? Not even her husband? That'd be the very first question I'd ask and I wouldn't let it go till I knew. Am I right in understanding this is what happened, she NEVER mentioned his name to her husband or anyone until these last few months? Why in the world? That'd be the chief reason I find this hard to believe.

I'd chose Mike Lee over this guy, but heck I find this Ford story hard to believe for this very reason. My wife related a story once of someone who was very crude to her at a food court, very first thing I wanted to know, was who it - what's his name? If it was attempted rape I woudn't have slept till I new the name and I'd sought justice right then. Can anyone honestly believe she'd withhold the name to even her husband? Out of what concern? I work in IT in healthcare and were not allowed to not make a hotline call when something like this is reported.

Uhh, not wanting someone who sexual assaulted you to sit on the supreme court isn't a 'politically' motivated thing.

No that's not true. She told her husband who it was years ago.

And drumming up weirdo clinton conspiracies as some form of backlash against him doesn’t help things. Then he claims, “what goes around comes around.” Has he given up on this SC job and is trying out his second career in a republican congress? He’s not exactly giving off the whole, “I’m an impartial to politics” judge vibe you’d think he’d want to give.

Did he receive advice from Bill Cosby’s PR team?
