What's new

Swat Lake City by Rudy Gobert

Yeeessss Rudy!!

You and the team need to go take what's yours!!! Show everyone.

WE BELIEVE

This is simple brilliance, really. The article itself was beautifully constructed and nailed the target audience in the feels. If you don't love Gobert as a Jazz fan, then you have no heart. But we can glean a few things from this too:

✓ Make no mistake, he did take a giant flaming Cleveland Steamer all over Corbin. That's good really.
✓ He also took one all over Lord Voldemort as well because....
✓ His bromance with Mitchell is confirmed. The two think alike, love the fans, respect the organization, and want. To. Win. And they want to do it here. We have our stars.
✓ He is a momma's boy. Not a damn thing wrong with that. No further way to ingratiate yourself with the fan base by pulling the momma card. Double effective when it's the truth. Score to a lethal degree when you invoke her in the end.
✓ Threw out respect to one of the pillars of Jazz history.
✓ Made his respect for Quin known and why he does respect him.

Just get his statue commissioned now.

A few thoughts:
1. I'm not arguing Ty was a good coach, but there was a reason Rudy averaged ~10 mins/per his rookie season. He was raw. He often looked lost on the court. He really did need some time in the GLeague. And few people knew who he was. That's why he lasted until the late 1st.

2. No doubt the Jazz did a better job of development under Quin. But Ty gets too much of the blame. Lindsey wanted him gone and did everything he could to undermine Ty, giving him a ****** roster and setting unrealistic goals Corbin was never going to be able to reach. Ty knew he was a dead man walking. He should have lambasted Dennis and the organization on the way out. Congrats to him for leaving with barely a word.

3. Rudy has a very good ghost writer. He doesn't speak that well in interviews. The grammar is just too good for him to have written the article himself.

4. All that said, it really does appear Gobert will be a lifer...
hopefully. But it's incumbent upon Lindsey now to somehow put more players around Mitchell and Gobert that will have them contending for the next decade. Jazz are so damn close.

How dare you blaspheme Rudy in this thread. And to think you once called yourself Stifle Tower. Shame on you.

That article has several grammatical errors.

Ty's goals were actually very achievable, develop a defensive identity, winning didn't matter, but Ty ignored that and tried to eek out wins in a tank year by playing crappy gets with no long term future with the team while not developing rookies we needed to be able to evaluate.

Writing can be easier than speaking, especially when you have Microsoft Word.

I have the biggest boner right now.

Love You rudy and I wish I could have more children just to name one Gobert

Corbin was a ******* idiot. Utah gave him every advantage, forbearance, and even brought in a HoF coach to "advise" him on how to do his job. I can understand a team taking a few years to establish an identity if there is a plan in place. The FO was willing to wait. In an organization that values loyalty and culture, you have to work not to have your contract renewed. He worked hard at that at least.

What a great post

Don’t underestimate Rudy’s timing for this article either. Jazz needed this win and the home crowd delivered. Great atmosphere at home tonight. Up 3-1 and they’re ready to throw in the towel. Looks like he’s been taking PR lessons from Spida.
