"Sweetness"

People actually thought that was cool back in the day. We live in different times.
People forreal thought this was groundbreaking. So cool!

My dad was a huge Bears fan because Jim McMahon was the quarterback and he came out of BYU. Since in the 80s houses had one TV screen unless you were a millionaire I had to watch a lot of Bears football. When this ****** *** music video launched I knew for a fact that the Bears were going to win the Super Bowl because this was way too ****ing cool and the universe was not going to let things happen any other way.

I think I've told this story before but a guy I really respected and who was over the young men's group in our ward growing up played center with McMahon in high school. Through him I got to meet Jim McMahon and a couple of the other bears players that year around Thanksgiving time, actually had to be before Thanksgiving because it was only a few games into the season. So being a football fan without a team at the time, and seeing how great they already looked that year, I was hooked and became a diehard bears fan. Of course that was a storybook season so right then it was phenomenal. But after the better part of 2 decades being basically irrelevant in the NFL, and being much more of a bears fan than an actual football fan after college, it faded and basically died. I haven't watched an entire pro football game since the superbowl in, what, 2016 or 2017 I think, when I hosted a barbecue Superbowl party at my house because my boss and some other coworkers were crazy rabid patriots fans. And I haven't watched a full actually Chicago bears game since '08 or so. I can only bash my head against the wall for one sports franchise at a time, and da bears ain't it.

I grew up a huge dolphins fan and don't care about them anymore at all.
I still love the NFL though and watch a ton of games. I just don't have a favorite team so I root for my fantasy players and for friends favorite teams and for BYU players.

This is sad. I'm a bears fan. My life is sad.
