The 1st controversy this season.. Neto/Hood starting over Burke/Burks

Start Neto and find yourself down during the beginning of games. Start Burke and at least you have instant offense to stay close. Burke is the better pg and should be starting. Burks should start also in my opinion, Groom Neto and Hood to fuel the bench.

Maybe that will happen. Quin is probably sending a message to players to move the ball, play defense and shoot open 3s. Burke and Burks are ball-stoppers relatively speaking.

As for instant offense, the Jazz want space for Hayward, Favors and Gobert to operate, as that generates more efficient offense than Burke trying to go off.

I also see your point bud!

I think you start the better facilitator for Hayward, Favors and Gobert. Neto seems like he might be that guy over Burke.

Between Hood and Burks I think it's a little trickier, but I like Hood to deliver the 3pt. shot so he's my choice.

But how good will the defense be for the second unit with Burks and Burke?

We know what worked last year: a low usage PG with length and defense. AKA Neto, so far. Roll with what was working.

The only thing is that I don't think Neto is going to average more minutes like Exum did over Burke. I think they mostly want Neto in to start because he is better at pushing pace. Pushing pace early can lead to better starts and setting the tone early.

Also, nothing in preseason has sold me on Neto being a better defender than Neto other than against guards who have no idea how to dribble.

Yuck. When does Exum come back? Any chance he plays this season? He was at the practice with coach thibs in jazz gear with no crutches. He could be back by February or March. And play for a month or two. Hopefully we only have to deal with this terrible pg play for one more season.

I read Exum came back to the U.S. to have his ACL surgery; which I thought was mistake. I've read there are new trends in the procedure that doctors in Europe are more open to trying which are cutting recovery time down by 2-4 months.
