The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

I thought this was thought provoking
I highly doubt that.

The quote that so perfectly summarizes the article they essentially use it twice.
the Constitution is too fundamentally antidemocratic a document to serve democratic purposes reliably.
Oh noes, the founders made a republic.

Bill of Rights Amendment 1: the democratic majority isn't allowed to use their majority to force the minority to believe in their god or silence them no matter how overwhelming the majority.

Bill of Rights Amendment 2: the minority is allowed to defend itself with effective weapons.

Bill of Rights Amendment 3: the minority can't be forced to provide service to the majority no matter how overwhelming the majority.

Bill of Rights Amendment 4: the majority cannot use the power of their majority to take stuff from the minority.

Bill of Rights Amendment 5, 6, 7, and 8: the majority cannot use the power of their majority to create a double standard in the way they prosecute the minority versus how they prosecute the majority.

The Constitution is seriously antidemocratic, with its protection from democracy for the Supreme Court, the election of the President via the electoral college, the process for amending the constitution, and even the election of the Senate before the 17th Amendment was passed.

You have spent your career ignoring evidence to make the kids entrusted to you dumber. There is no way an article online made you think anything other than "This affirms my belief. I'm right. The United States is a democracy and we need to change the government's founding document to make it into a democracy because it is already a democracy."

I listened to the address. That’s not what he said. He zeroed in on an anti-democratic right wing populist movement referred to as MAGA, which revolves around a cult of personality, featuring an authoritarian Donald Trump. It’s true that many Americans would be happy with a more authoritarian executive, but this right wing populist movement, which Biden has called “semi-fascism” is anti-democratic and has no place in our country. Biden did not declare war on conservatives overall, at all. We know which political party is currently under the sway of an anti-democratic right wing populism. It belongs in the dust bin of history.

Bill of Rights Amendment 2: the minority is allowed to defend itself with effective weapons.
You must live in a different country. In this one, the majority is allowed to defend itself with slightly effective weapons, while minorities are routinely killed while carrying them.

Bill of Rights Amendment 3: the minority can't be forced to provide service to the majority no matter how overwhelming the majority.
Soldiers are the majority of the population?

Fortunately, you only teach swimming, so there is little opportunity for you to make kids dumber.

I too found it thought provoking, and you actually claimed yesterday that you thought I was someone capable of introspection(gee, thanks, lol). I shared that article after reading it, specifically because I found it thoughtful.

On another front, I’ve read many of @The Thriller’s posts where he provides background information on American history, and trends in American history. As someone who also taught history for a spell, I find he does an outstanding job, IMO, in those particular posts.

You might have been listening but you weren't hearing it if that is the impression you came away with. He declared ALL republicans to be enemies of the United States. He blamed "MAGA Republicans" for turning all republicans into threats, but it is ALL republicans who his government now considers to be a clear and present danger. Here is an actual line from his speech:

“There is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”

The threat is "the Republican Party today". Last night, Biden labeled a hundred million Americans as terrorists, and threatened unity to him or else.

Soldiers are the majority of the population?
In a democracy, yes. Soldiers are an instrument commanded by the majority. Because governments typically have a monopoly on violence, democracies often veer into genocide. I'd like the checks on majority opinion to stay in place, thank you.
