The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

Saw this tweet today.

So Biden gets out of a 20 year quagmire in Afghanistan...evacuates 70,000+ people...as of now no Americans died...and we're supposed to believe this is bad?
Correct.

I’ll give credit where credit is due, if it works out then Trump deserves credit for striking this deal. Biden also campaigned on ending the war. His own son served in our middle eastern ward and I think that has given him perspective. But Trump was the one who got this deal. me personally? I probably would’ve kept it status quo. Most Americans can’t find Afghanistan on a map and had probably forgotten that we even had troops there.

But what’s funny is if Biden had torn up the Trump deal with the Taliban. how many MAGA currently criticizing Biden for keeping trump’s deal, would’ve criticized him for tearing Trump’s deal up?

Nobody said a word until he completely and absolutely botched the withdrawal. The fact that none of you here can understand the magnitude if what just happened world wide is absolutely dumbfounding. Please tell me you guys are not this naive. Your grown *** voting adults.

Ya, Biden would be called a war monger or something if he hadn't continued what trump began.

Correct.

This is unfortunately true and shows the problem with politicians. If Trump was still president, D’s would be up in arms right now and R’s would be holding the company line. Since the shoe is on the other foot, everyone reverses their stance.

It’s what I hate about Washington - it’s not about principles, it’s about power.

And honesty, decency and transparency are four letter words.

I'd go even bigger and say it shows the problem with our country. I was on FiveThirtyEight.com looking at job approval poll numbers. They have a series of charts that let you compare where Biden's job approval numbers compared to past Presidents. At this point in their terms, Democrat Truman had 75% approval. Republican Eisenhower had 74.4% approval. JFK had a 75% approval and LBJ had a 74% approval. America isn't united like that today. No President today could get those numbers and every President, from either party, used to get those approval numbers.

But that’s clearly not the case. Both sides aren’t the same. When Democrats lost an election (far more rigged than Trump’s 2020 loss) they didn’t storm the Capitol. When Trump wanted to build his wall, Democrats gave him the funding to do so. He ****ed it up and shut down the government instead. When he wanted “Infrastructure Week”, Democrats showed up. True, he instead got into a spat with Pelosi. had Democrats acted like Republicans, they would’ve torn up this deal out of spite. They didn’t. the point is, both sides aren’t the same.

I think you’d probably see criticism of the humanitarian crisis. I wish we had been better organized. Although, we couldn’t have been evacuating earlier as I think that could’ve sped the downfall faster. But by and large I think most Democrats would’ve recognized that support for this occupation was no longer popular and they would’ve admitted that ultimately there weren’t any alternative acceptable options.

All politicians aren’t the same. This cynicism towards popular democratic government favors authoritarians. We need the electorate to be better informed and less bitter. We need voters to care about someone other than themselves. They need to elect better people. Americans can have popular self rule but they need to stop acting like selfish toddlers bitching and moaning all the time over masks and other trivial matters. We have the type of government we vote for.

Seems pretty relevant given the makeup of the two parties and the current criticisms of the Biden admin. Think republicans actually give a **** about refugees from Afghanistan? Consider the polling…

Ya we are such a divided nation at this point that we could have the perfect and greatest president of all time elected in a coming up election and their approval rating would still suck.
We are way too divided.

Well when you post that the worst military disaster in US is a "good thing" you're flat out misinformed and ignorant and should just keep quiet. Now the airport just got bombed in a terrorist attack. The flat out ignorance.

I'm frankly surprised that we didn't have more casualties before today's bombings (aside from individuals who thought hanging on to the outside of departing airplanes hoping to get a ride was a wise idea). I say that knowing the Taliban has also killed civilians that simply is unreported and potentially unknown to media because they're zealots.

And here's the problem: we either interject ourselves and continue the war with more casualties or we bow out and just let these atrocities happen. Neither is a preferred solution.

You mean the refugees that pre-Biden were completely free? The stupidity is astounding. Biden literally MADE these people refugees then you morons have the audacity to say this is a "good thing" minutes prior and blame others.
