“Maybe if you don't talk about sexual topics, it might stop it from leading into other topics that could groom a child.”

This is my follow up to that point. Maybe not having sexual talks at an early age with teachers, these situations could be prevented. Some kids at 11 or 12 are still very innocent and still believe in Santa. It looks like this teacher started and successfully groomed this young boy.

Grooming that would not have been happening in the classroom, in front of 20-30 other kids. There is nothing in the Florida law that would prevent grooming.

It wasn’t an attack, you just took it that way.

You weren't attacking the position that the law was ill-founded? FWIW, I didn't think I was being personally attacked.

Maybe just maybe, people who don’t have the same political views as you, could help you understand where majority of the country feels on some topics.

We care about our families being safe, we care about fairness and doing the right thing, we care about people being able to thrive. We see these things happening through different principles and means.

If you keep screaming at people about trans women in women sports, Russia, J6, Trump, white supremacy, topics that fire you up but will keep pushing more voters away from your side. This is happening all across the USA, with all demographics. Look at polls, voter registration, election turnouts.

Odd you mention that list, since it's the right-wingers legislating about trans women in sports, saying Russia is s not being evil in the war with Ukraine, going to Trump rallies, and shouting "Jews will not replace us" (I don't even know what J6 is supposed to be). Who's really fanning the flames there?

Parents rights, school choice, gas prices, 401k, health care, topics where the Left have been the leading voice on, has been trending towards the right.

Aside from health care, those have always been right-wing emphasized topics, where the left would discuss children's rights, school reform, and safe retirement. Currently, what's the right-wing position on health care?

Gas prices are the result of capitalism responding to the Ukraine war, and the resulting stress on fuel distribution. What sort of socialism would you have the government impose to change them?

Stop being so smug and attacking when someone opposes your views and actually listen. It could actually help your party.

I hope folks are taking the time to watch the January 6 Committee hearings. I haven’t been able to watch them live but I’ve recorded them and play them on my phone or iPad. Sometimes I connect my headphones and listen to them when I’m doing chores around the house.

And I think there’s a healthy reminder here. I get that gas prices are annoying. But they go up and down. Been that way since the dawn of time. I remember paying $4.00 a gal back in 2007-2008. In 2020 it was dirt cheap because no one was traveling due to Covid. Now it’s up because of the Russian war in Ukraine. So I get that gas prices and the natural business cycle resetting can be annoying. It happens about every 6-10 years. It’s normal. But if we wreck our democracy, what else matters? As Pence’s lawyer explained at the last hearing, Trump’s plan would’ve resulted in either overturning the results of the 2020 elections and turning him into a dictator or would’ve resulted in chaos that would’ve played out in American streets across the nation.

When taking that into consideration, what else matters? Are we really going to go down the dark paths of other authoritarian regimes and throw away our democracy over a gallon of gas? Cmon.

A vote for Repubs this fall is a vote to install a Republican dictator in 2024 regardless of the election results. As Hungary and Russia have found out sadly this century, installing a dictator is easy. Removing him from power once you’ve wrecked your democratic institutions and norms is very hard. So keep the long term vision of America in mind. Gas prices are annoying but they don’t have the long lasting impacts that empowering an authoritarian political party and candidates will have.

trump has a health care plan. It’s cheaper than the ACA, will save everyone money, and will cover everyone. He’ll reveal it in two weeks. Stay tuned!

I can tell I’m getting old around here because I remember when the Republican health care plan used to be the ACA. It was then adopted by a Republican governor In Massachusetts and celebrated. Not anymore. I’m getting old.

As much fun as it is to point out completely idiocy like inflation being limited to milk being a few pennies more and ending when people stop buying so much milk, or it now being a choice between dictatorship or 1 gallon of gasoline, it makes me sad to know that so many of the left are so low wattage as to actually believe this garbage. No, gas isn't expensive because of Russia invading Ukraine. It has been going up since Joe Biden took office in January. No, inflation isn't going up because of Russia invading Ukraine or supply chain issues resulting from the COVID epidemic. Inflation is always, Always, ALWAYS a monetary issue. Always. The democrats caused it by running the printing presses to pay for legislation they passed on a party line vote. Now Joe Biden is threatening to run the money printing presses some more via executive order to pay off student loan debt. The ONLY solution to inflation is to contract the money supply and that will necessarily result in recession. The more the money printing presses are run, the more the money supply will need to be contracted to correct and the deeper the recession will be.

This isn't a hard concept. Everyone needs to stop being so stupid.

It’s ironic that those who downplayed Jan 6, played whataboutism with the insurrection, and have downplayed Republican efforts to enact voter suppression legislation and changes to election counting are now downplaying the very real possibility of empowering an authoritarian movement this fall. Use your head folks. If we came THIS close to losing our democracy on Jan 6, 2021, how much closer are we going to be in 2024-2025 now that Trump has consolidated his grip on the party, purged nonbelievers, and will have control of the majority of state legislatures and Congress?

Next time, Trump and Republicans aren’t going to allow someone like Pence to stop their takeover. Our democracy remains in great peril. Again, gas prices come and go. High gas prices aren’t going to have any long term impact on most of us. But empowering an authoritarian party this fall certainly will. A vote for Republicans this fall, a party completely drunk on Trump’s big lie, will absolutely do whatever is necessary to get their guy (Trump, DesSantis, etc) into the White House no matter what the actual election results are. That’s scary folks.

I am really excited for the deep sea generator Japan is setting up. That could be a substantial player in the renewables game. Not much more steady and powerful than ocean currents. Could be true limitless energy if we figure out how to harvest it and, more importantly, transport it where it is needed. For an island country like Japan it is a no-brainer and just a few of these could potentially provide them with most if not all of their power needs.

As for voter suppression, the poster child was the new election laws in Georgia and they had a record turnout in the most recent election proving the screeching about voter suppression was nothing but uninformed noise.

If you don’t have much time to watch the hearings, at least watch this from 17:00-19:00. Keep this in mind for the fall. Trump/Eastman wanted to overturn the election. If they couldn’t get Trump electors then they wanted to keep it back to states. And if states couldn’t decide and the courts failed to intervene, Greg Jacobs, Pence’s former attorney, says that “things would’ve been decided in the streets.”

Do you really want to put back into power the very political party that will do anything to keep power? They’ve shown that they’re even more beholden to Trump now. Think of the long term ramifications that will happen if you give Republicans control of Congress so they can throw out election results for the presidential election in 2024?
