So with 1/4 of the season behind us what big moves throughout the league can you see happening before the trade deadline?
My thoughts:
1) A Center to the Cavs.
Cavs to pick up either Cousins, Gasol or Favors. May also lay it all down and go for PG13 at the deadline if OKC hasn't improved dramatically. Then with a possible line up of Thomas, J.R, PG13, Lebron and Cousins?? They could compete with GS and if they can hold onto PG13 would be really attractive place for CP0 as an UFA...
2) Year of the Coach sacking.
Malone, Kidd, Gentry, Casey (maybe Brooks) all to be sacked by years end. In terms of Kidd theres plenty of rumors and talk that it is a matter of when not if. I'd predict we'll see Fizdale instated before there the playoffs.
3) Bucks trade Parker.
Lots of suitors, great talent but the return/asking price will be very interesting.
4) Celtics to play it cool on AD/big man trade.
While Lebron is healthy I'm expecting the Celtics to ride this year out before making any massive plays for the dominant big theyve been chasing. Would want to see what the team looks like with Benedict before they make a decision, although I'd love nothing more (other than Dante's health) to see him packaged and dealt.
5) OKC is blown up at the deadline.
Smart move and OKC will probably get back more than they paid for both Melo and PG13. I think they need to face the fact that they have Rus. They'll will never win a chip with him but if you surround him with a team of 3-D guys and let him play his high usage rate game they'll have years of 55-60 win seasons and 2nd round exits.. But it'll be fun to watch!
6) The student becomes a master.
Igor Kokoskov to be offered a full time coaching position, maybe Memphis if they blow it up..
7) The 2017 Draft Class.
I mentioned this somewhere else but imo, this draft class will be looked back upon as an All-time great class with HOFers scattered throughout the draft class. For this reason I'd like to see us poach or come up with a package to target a PF from this class, someone that was taken late 1st or during the 2nd round. Of course the dream is Kuzma but maybe a D.J Wilson or T.J Leaf type... I remember reading we were interested in D.J Wilson during the pre draft but that could have been just a smoke screen with how the Jazz operate.
8) Jazz moves.
It seems we have infinite paths we could go at this point with all of our trade chips (Rubio, Favs, Burks maybe Hood) fluctuating drastically in trade value throughout the year. A stretch 4 is an obvious need but there is little out there and the guys coming up on the market will cost us MAX money. Is it possible to continue to fill this role over the next few years with the Thabo's, JJs and Jerebkos of the world??
PS. I am almost totally sold on DM as the teams future PG, (even being the massive Exum homer that I am) I'll concede, the damage DM can do in the PnR, that deep 3 ball is too significant to ignore.
Whatever we do the untouchables for me are Rudy, DM and Exum. I'd need something really good to part with Hood too otherwise I'd be happy to give him his 4yr $70-80Mil and ride with him.
Besides the obvious Favs and Burks, Thabo, Jerebko, JJ, Ingles, Udoh would all have reasonable value to a contender on a short contract and may net us a 1st in a package or a couple of 2nds.
