The buyout market

Shumpert has already been signed.

Well then I guess I'm not Mr. Current Event.

I believe we will be active in the buyout market. I understand why we haven't in the past, not a contender, but also didn't have a role for a bit player because we had legitimate good depth.

Buyout candidates list is gonna be short... I don't believe AI gets bought out. Memphis will squeeze him financially if they do... they be frugal.

Let me look into my crystal ball for some buyouts...

- Marvin Williams... I'd be all on board for the wet bandit coming on board. He is expiring... had a good run here... could take all of Jeff Green's minutes hopefully... he knows his role.
- Tristan Thompson - I think they could likely get something for him and I don't think he'd come here... maybe he's tired of the Kardasian life doe.
- Cavs buyout candidates - John Henson, Brandon Knight, Dellavedova... I don't have a lot of interest there... maybe Dellavedova if we have given up on Exum and Mudiay.
- Marcus Morris.... maybe... but only if he took significantly less or stabbed a teammate in the locker room. I think they could move him for similar expiring money and a second so not sure a buyout is in the cards... sorry.
- Wizards... CJ Miles and Ian Mahimi… no thanks
- Chandler Parsons - I might be interested if he was healthy... can he put together 10-20 healthy games... not likely.
- Andre Roberson - I'd have some interest.

I think the buyout market will be really really bad this year. Too many teams think the have a shot at the title or a shot at their first playoff appearance in a while. Teams selling will likely find good prices.

I'd be all over Andre Roberson.

I can see contenders releasing guys to fill gaps (or releasing unwanted players after trades). Teams a bit over the luxury tax. Also, rebuilding teams buying out vets (like Iguodala). A few players that might become available (not saying Utah might like any of them):

  • Dragan Bender (Bucks)
  • Chandler Parsons (Atl)
  • Wilson Chandler (Nets)
  • John Henson (Cavs)
  • Nene or Tyson Chandler on the Rockets
  • Carmelo Anthony (lol)
  • Anthony Tolliver (Por)
  • Almost any of the scrubs on GSW
  • Trey Burke (Philly) yikes
  • etc
That looks like @homeytennis ' dream team

I'd be all over Tyson Chandler.

Chandler has been solid... Nene will get bought out because he has a weird contract.

Sign Bogut. He would mesh with joe and Exum. Be a great backup to gobert
Too late. We signed someone who probably won’t play.

Meanwhile, Jeff Green is holding down the 5 spot.

rven if the rookies can play they get no respect from the refs in big games. Hey jazz the refs whistle the hell out of rookies

Iguodala's not even with them, though, so it's not like he'll return.

Yeah, but they would likely hold out for a trade at this point rather than just dumping him, and now they can look for a complementary player instead of just angling for picks OKC style.

I don't think they want to win since they owe a pick to Boston... I guess if it was a mid first this year rather than unprotected next year they'd take that, but I expect them to sell off AI, Crowder, for whatever draft value they can get and they won't care what players come back... unless they are young prospects.

Let's send a second rounder, Jeff Green, Tony Bradley, and Niang for Crowder.

I guess Gallo could be an option if OKC isn’t in the playoff picture and fails to move him at the deadline.
