The Climate Change Thread

You claim to work with data, and you don't understand the difference between a mean and a standard deviation?
Sure. The mean is easy to convey using an anecdotal example while a standard deviation is a more abstract concept. For instance, the mean bra size in America in 2024 is a 34DD. Anecdotally, the American mean is this:

The standard deviation is about probabilities of being in other cup sizes which ends up looking like a line on a chart and is far less compelling to an audience.

can't we at least just agree that all Lakers and Man Utd fans should be culled ??? The earth does not need those oxygen thieves around and that would be an awesome start to relieving the stress on mother earth.

Not directly related to climate change, but the effort to “deconstruct the administrative state” would certainly include gutting the power of the EPA.

Random fact, but did you know the one time head of the EPA was Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch's Mom?

Nepo baby, what?!?

Seems like you used it wrong.
Someone who worked in the EPA had a kid that worked in the supreme court.

If the kid would have ended up working for the EPA then that would make the kid a nepo baby according to the definition but since the kid worked in the supreme Court the nepo baby adjective is incorrect from what I can gather.

“Experts say the documents show the fossil fuel industry had intimate involvement in the inception of modern climate science, along with its warnings of the severe harm climate change will wreak, only to then publicly deny this science for decades and fund ongoing efforts to delay action on the climate crisis.

“These findings are a startling confirmation that big oil has had its finger on the pulse of academic climate science for 70 years – for twice my lifetime – and a reminder that it continues to do so to this day. They make a mockery of the oil industry’s denial of basic climate science decades later.”
