The Concept of Rookie

I understand the standards for this, but last game, I've heard the LA commentator call Ingles "Rookie from Australia. 27 years old" and it sounded really wrong.

There should be an age limit to call player rookies. Because many of the players they call rookie actually have a lot more fundamental skills and know the game of basketball as a team game a lot more than many of the other players in the league. And more importantly, most of them are actually being brought in order to bring experience to the team in regards to shooting consistence and setting team plays that the coach wants to set.

I know this isn't the most important thing in the universe but it sounded lame and irritating so I wanted to share.

I know Ingles is your countryman and doesn't feel like Jazz related issue, but...

Well if we're talking about the "concept of a rookie" as purely a theoretical notion then it's General NBA. If we're discussing Ingles as a player then it's Jazz related. What do you wanna talk about?

I want to talk about a general issue that made me want it through an experience of hearing a Jazzman get called that name.

Considering how much any random thread in this forum can get far away from topic as the talk continues, you seem to be forcing this way too much.

.... unless we're gonna talk about Ingles as a player, this is General NBA. It's not rocket science.

You're right.

The NBA is Elite. No matter where a player has played before it does not compare to the NBA. A first year guy is a rookie.

Exactly. The difference between the NBA and most leagues are like the difference between me throwing a bullet as opposed to shooting it out of a gun.
