AK was an inconsistent shooter. I don't think he worked much to improve his abilities. He could have/should have been a HOF'er.I am an AK fan.
And this is off topic but could it be that AK was just not used propertly by Sloan?
Anyway, just saying. This can be a topic of another if there's none yet already.
Back to topic, thanks for compiling the highlights.
Hayward had passion, he just wasn't demonstrative or expressive about it. He is guarded and measured in his emotions.
I agree. You can't work as hard as he did and not have passion. What I do think he lacked, was the "put this team on my back" type of mentality. I'd actually say it started to show up in glimpses during this last playoff run, which made his leaving all the more disappointing. However, 7 years into his career I think it's fair to say Gordon was not an Alpha out there on the court and wasn't super in love with playing in SLC.
Mitchell is going to be the exact opposite. In 1 month's time, he's heaped more praise on the Utah Jazz than Gordon did in 7 years. You could also argue that while Gordon got extremely better across the board and is a very complete basketball player, there's not one skill set he possesses that you could call "elite". Mitchell can be elite in a couple of areas and if his work ethic approaches that of Gordon's, this kid will be a better player.
The SKY is the limit here.
I think hes on the same talent level as Rudy Gobert. Now, he just needs the experience. If they redid the draft today he would go 5. Can you believe it? We got a number 5 draft pick in this EPIC '17 draft!
His all around energy and personality are so positive. I think he and Rudy are the leaders going forward.
Good point/postMaybe, but I think that "put the team on my back" mentality is also something that can often lead to hero ball and poor team play. I thought that was Hayward's strength, always playing within the team. But like most things, your greatest strength can also be your greatest weakness.
Just because one crazy writer wrote that doesn't make it true. Do you think he would go over Josh jackson? Because I don't and that article has him over jackson. NBA teams would still take Fox over Mitchell also if they redid the draft. He a top ten players who slid and jazz got. Top five. Get real why don't you because NBA gms would not taken him over Jackson or fox. This is a fact jack!
Do we think the Jazz would prefer Mitchell over Dennis Smith Jr? Mitchell shut down Smith when they played last year.
Is somebody having a hard time rationalizing why Denver traded him to pick up Lyles and Lydon?

Their thinking was likely that they already have Jamal Murray and Gary Harris whom they like in the backcourt, and they were actively trying to get a PF with shooting range. They had a trade lined up for Kevin Love that fell through at the last minute when Indiana pulled Paul George out of that trade. They reacted a bit and called the Jazz to ask for Trey Lyles, a player they like. They knew the Jazz wanted to trade up into the lotto. They were hoping OG Anunoby would be on the board at #24, but Toronto took him at #23. They weren't as clued in on Mitchell as the Jazz were, and they wanted to add forwards to their roster.
Basically, the Jazz got lucky.
