The Emperor Has No Clothes

So, it was easy to find. Wikipedia. He used the n-word in an interview in 2001. Duder, that pretty recent.

Really? The things I read sometimes on this board, and that annoyed you?

Posting a seven year old speech with no obvious relevance and no explanation; yes it felt like I was wasting my life.

As for context, I dont feel the speech needs context...I thought it could stand on its own in that regard.

Absent context, it's completely random. References to "this administration" that are about a past administration, arguments about a war that are, at this point, almost entirely irrelevant because they've been resolved, and essentially no potential possible future relevance.

Absent knowing who wrote the speech it's no different than someone starting a thread and simply posting the text of the Gettysburg Address or a random Ted Kennedy speech about gun control. Frankly, unless I'm reading a post written by "a," I like knowing why I'm bothering.

But I neglected to consider the results of trifling with the emotions of the masses.

Dude, the day that you're the elite and I'm the masses will NEVER come. All I need as evidence is that you still live in West Virginia.

Then why read it? Sounds like the epitome of "personal choice."

It was supposed to be completely random for the purposes of that post. Standing against the power hungry is always relevant, the details change as time passes, but it remains relevant nonetheless

The text of the Gettysburg Address? I wouldnt think one would need to post the author there either, but maybe thats just me. Granted Im not now, nor have I ever, compared that speech to the GA. But, it was a pretty popular speech in its time especially within the anti-war community. Again though, you ignored what I responded - that I didnt want personal biases to effect the impression some could get from simply reading the speech...biases be they good or bad. So, I didnt post the author.

LoL...nice. I suppose you've been to West Virginia? Otherwise I would have to assume you're simply applying a stereotype. I've been all over the east coast, other countries...and a few places in the western US. Seen enough to realize there's no place I'd rather be.

I'm the biggest ego on the board for a reason.

But seriously, anyone who talks about "trifling with the emotions of the masses" deserves to be put back in his proper place.

Actually, thats my bad... I made a grammatical error, masses shouldn't have had an "m" on it.

Do you want me to retract my regret for posting his racist quotes?

Well, thats totally your call. You either feel regret or don't. I would hope it doesnt hinge on the discussion with me, rather what your impression of the Senator is/was.
