The Jazz agreed to terms with Elson

We can debate whether Okur is the PF or the C in this line-up. On offense, Okur will be out on the floor and Jefferson will be in the low post. (Okur does pull another defender out on the floor to give Jefferson more room to operate.) On defense through, Okur is better defending in the post than he is out on the floor, where quicker PFs could show him up. However, it remains to be seen if Jefferson defends out on the floor any better...

Okur and Jefferson will be disasters guarding out there on the floor. Okur and Jefferson together makes perfect sense...but only on offense. On defense it is'nt all that great and quickly becomes a pick-your-poison type scenario.
I'd still start Okur and Jefferson together though against Gasol and Bynum to see what happens. Atleast one of their bigs would have to expend some energy guarding Okur. And on defense, whoever is more mobile between the two( I am assuming it is Jefferson) would take on Gasol. If this flops then we'll have to bring Elson/Fess. Millsap should be in there only when Odom is in.

I've said all along that for the purity of basketball (all emotion aside), the best line up is;

Deron
Raja
AK
Okur
Jefferson

I won't rehash all the reasons why, but anyone that truly knows how basketball is played will 'get it.'

I agree, but CJ could replace Raja in that line-up if he's playing well. Millsap could also replace Okur if he's hitting from mid-range. Deron-Miles-AK-Millsap-Jefferson is pretty strong on both sides of the ball.

Millsap pwned the Lakers in their series last year.

He had a pretty good series. Did score over 20 twice, but also played a lot more than normal because of the Okur injury. How many times did Gasol simply shoot right over him? How many times did Odom burn him? How many rebounds did their big men get over him?

On defense let AK play the 4. That's when his defense is the best, when he's near the hoop.

No question we have a lot of guys who can contribute. I just hope Coach is flexible enough to not try and win against all teams with the exact same lineup! You guys have identified the strengths and weaknesses of many different combos. I don't think this is a "one size fits all" situation. We need to be smart about combos we put on the floor, especially against the better teams. I don't think we're that stacked with "stars" to be able to win against everyone with the same lineup.!

I figured out why they brought in Elson
