What's new

The Jazz agreed to terms with Elson

Yes, we need Fes if nothing else to pound an opposing player once in a while, but I suppose we do have Bell who can do that now as well. We need to hit Lebron a littler harder than that though.

I figured out why they brought in Elson

Then throw in a Fez choke slam for good measure...

Miami??? Problem solved.

BOOM! **** them bishes!

1320 KFAN just did breaking news about 5 minutes ago that Elson has now officially "agreed in principle" this afternoon and is "officially the newest member of the Jazz". I thought he already agreed, so maybe this is the actual signing? They are going to try getting him on the air today.

On defense let AK play the 4. That's when his defense is the best, when he's near the hoop.

I agree. It would be most advantageous for the Jazz to go with the Williams, Miles, Kirilenko, Millsap, Jefferson lineup. Kirilenko is big and long enough to match up against Gasol while Millsap could guard Ron Artest. Andrei really is our best bet at contending with Pau Gasol, as he is an outstanding defender who is also incredibly athletic. If the Lakers choose to have Gasol guard AK, Pau would be moved away from the basket on defense, which would open things up down low for Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson. Also, Paul Millsap is quick, strong, and athletic enough to guard Ron Artest on defense. Jefferson would challenge Bynum on the interior by forcing him to play defense while challenging him with increased size and rebounding ability on defense. The Williams/Miles back court would be our best bet at matching up against Kobe and Fisher. Deron and C.J. are both really good passers and distributors. Bryant would be forced to expel energy on defense because he would have to either guard Deron or C.J., who both have the ability to drive to the basket and finish while being outstanding perimeter scorers. This line up would be the best that we could put on the floor to challenge the Fakers.

Er, what? When did Catch-n-Jack Miles start driving to the basket, let alone finishing? There's a reason his FTA/game is so low - he doesn't drive, and he avoids contact. He's a wildly inconsistent jump-shooter, and his FG% and 3-Pt% from last season hardly qualify him as an "outstanding perimeter scorer" either.

(Now I think about it, there was that one game in Memphis when he drove to the basket for the go-ahead bucket as time expired, and got rejected by Marc Gasol to preserve the loss. Maybe its better that he doesn't drive.)

We see things about the same. It's early in the season. I think the starters can/will play heavy minutes, especially with Okur out. Hayward will play some, but Sloan's not going to take the training wheels off just yet. Remember, Deron had MUCH more potential and Williams was sitting on the bench behind Palacio and McLeod in his rookie season.

C - Jefferson 36, Elson/Fes 12
PF - Millsap 34, AK 14
SF - AK 18, CJ 25, Evans 5
SG - Raja 28, Hayward 15, CJ 5
PG - Deron 38, Price/Gaines 10

I think the Jazz see Hayward as a SG. At least KOC does. We'll be o.k. until Okur comes back - as long as there are no other injuries.

If the Jazz see Hayward as a 2 why did he play the 3 in Summer League. I guess in the end it doesn't matter a lot. The wings in the Jazz offense are interchangable offensively. The key for Hayward is who is he going to guard?

QFMFT!!!

That's always been my question. If the kid can stay in front of his man and even play passable D, he'll be a good player. If he can't...
