What's new

"The Jazz are bound to shoot [Milos] Teodosic an offer sheet."

If we get this guy, and don't bring Hill back, I'd really like to see some of our other money (MLE and anything else) spent on a solid backup 4/5 who can kick *** on defense. I have no idea how much McGee is gonna get, probably way too much and around 3 years/45M if not more, which we couldn't afford, but he is someone who comes to mind. My point is, if we sign this basketball wizard who blows on d, I wanna ensure we have kickass defense behind him for 48 minutes a game.

We gonna get the perfect Gobert backup in the draft with Jonathan Jeanne with the 24th pick. Don't you worry about that kick *** defensive 4/5.

Javale will get closer to 3 for 4.5 than 3/45.

I agree... I think the difference is he is not draft eligible and did not play in the nba this year. Although I think Locke could absolutely be wrong I'm not sure he's tricky enough with the cap to really think this through.

Most of the people on this board who have even a decent understanding of the CBA know more than Locke does. I still remember an article he wrote one year about Utah's options in the offseason, and he went off on some extremely unrealistic scenario about trading Raja Bell, while leaving out completely Utah's most likely trade asset, which happened to be the TPE we got for Memo.

Locke is a great stats guy, but not very familiar with CBA stuff. No doubt in my mind that he is getting this idea from somebody else in the jazz Organization.

I'm not really convinced either way. Smitty is pretty reliable, but he sounded like he wasn't completely sure, and this is definitely a rare situation with a foreign player who isn't draft eligible.

I honestly wouldn't even say that Locke is a great stats guy. I don't really like his use of numbers more often than not. He takes numbers and tries to spin them into whatever he already thinks. He'll use single game plus-minus, he'll use small sample size shooting numbers, he'll ignore stats as well if he doesn't like what they say. I do think he is very valuable because he gets lots of glimpses into the minds of the organization, and I think often he is used as a way to get ideas out to the fans from the team. His PAAC rating or whatever is decent in certain ways.

I do hope he was right about being able to use the cap space, though.

Somehow I doubt Locke would just bring it up out of nowhere unless somebody like DL brought it up.

He could just be wrong. Other journalists have made mistakes about the CBA too. I've made assumptions about the CBA before that have been completely wrong. Nobody is fault-less. It happens.

To clarify, I found out: Teodosic is a free agent on July 1, same time as everybody else. The Jazz cannot use their current cap space to sign him.

What about using the cap space in a trade before the deadline? Locke mentioned this as another way to utilize the money. Is that a real option?

Not me. I don't like hype or fun.

And I never use hyperbole. I have never ever and would never in a million million years.

You don't expect me to believe this, do you? Your two iconic threads ( the Gif thread and the Is this appropriate thread) which were brought down unfairly were two of the funniest threads in the history of this franchise.
