So you are saying statistically the NBA is due? I understand some of the skepticism, but I think Quin Snyder has coached him before and would be a fair judge of NBA talent.

If the argument is that other positions can make it late in their careers but PGs can't because there's no precedent, then that's a meaningless statistic because of very limited sample size. So far we've got three players mentioned of any position so saying it's PGs I don't think is all that accurate. I think a better explanation is that really talented guys will come over earlier. Nocioni was 24 and Kukoc 25. Sabonis was 30.

I'm all for signing Teodosic and it is widely agreed that he is the best basketball player outside of the US.

The argument that because Ingles has worked out for us means he will is extremely dumb though.

I don't think it makes much sense to look at other players or situations. I think it makes the most sense to look at his game. He has an NBA game offensively, but even in his current leagues he has a decent amount of TO's to go with those great assists. He's absolutely a good/great NBA level shooter,and has excellentt ball handling ability. He's also going to struggle defensively, and he's never played in such a rigorous, long season.

He looks like he doesn't take care off himself incredibly well, and as he gets older that could lead to injuries, or an earlier drop-off in his ability.

The Jazz also need to think about if bringing a guy like him over makes sense for their team depending on who else is on the roster. Is he a definite NBA starter on a top team? I don't think you can say that. I don't know if it makes sense for the Jazz to bring him in unless they consider Exum a bust/non PG, or they aren't planning on bringing back Hill. I guess if Hayward is on board I'd be fine rolling with him in a platoon with Exum for a year or two. But I'm higher on Exum than some people, who might want to move on immediately.

Edit: In that case he'd be an ideal backup. But he reportedly only wants to start.

It's part of the evaluation... like hey look this has never really been done successfully and our cap space is pretty damn valuable right now... maybe we should let someone else take that gamble.

It's not the whole evaluation but if it doesn't enter into the thinking it's dumb...

Most guys who are really talented in Europe get noticed early and they come to the NBA early, especially with how good scouting is now. And now the European leagues are becoming deeper, so young NBA talent wants to come over earlier because they cant get minutes for the top club teams. Teodosic didnt. He became a star in Europe and for what ever reason he decided to stay in Europe. I dont know why we are holding that against him and asking for examples of other players coming over late.

The most recent example that comes to my mind of a European star coming to the NBA late was Juan Carlos Navero. He had a decent rookie year for the Grizzlies before returning to Europe because he didnt like playing for a bad team (Grizzlies were bad at the time) and not being a star like he could in Europe. He also cited it being hard on his family because they couldn't speak English. This was also during a time before the league became more European in style of play.

I think it's pretty obvious Teo could thrive in Utah. He has a good relationship with Snyder and we have a good enough defense to hide him. He is an excellent 3pt shooter and is a great off the dribble shooter who can pull up in anyone's face. He would be a top 3 NBA passer from Day 1. It's just a no brainer deal. 8 million a yaer is cheap for a rotation player. At the very least he is a good 20 mpg backup PG who can shoot the lights out and get the team easy buckets with his passing.
