What's new

The Jazz have waived Elijah Millsap

Hmm.. with Favors and Gobert coming back soon if anything I think there's a glut of bigs ATM since Withey and Pleiss are doing pretty well.

I'd much rather we get another wing seeing as Burks is still no where near returning and in case Hood is out again...

Looks like another injury to Hood.. this is why I'd rather see the Jazz adding another wing.

Hope Eli hasn't packed up his bags quite yet - wouldn't be shocked to see him back on another 10 day after Hood's injury.

I hope they sign somebody soon. We play a lot in January. We only have 1 roster spot open, right? What do we need to do to get an injury exception?

Jazz are not eligible for an injury exception - unless Hood's injury turns out to be serious.

From the cbafaq.com site
A hardship can be deemed to exist when a team has four players who are sick or injured and have missed at least three games, and will continue to be unable to play. If a hardship is granted, the hardship ends when one of the sick or injured players is physically able to resume playing. The team must then release player(s) to get back to the roster limit, although teams have the option to retain the hardship player and release a different player to get back to the limit.

Right now. pending diagnosis of Hood's injury, the Jazz only have three pIayers fitting the conditions above. And, they'd need to add a player to replace Millsap and THEN ask for a 16th if Hood was out for 3+ games (assuming Favors doesn't return).

Is his offense really that much worse than last season? His value is (or should I say was) on the other side of the floor. During our insane defensive run at the end of last season, he was our best perimeter defender, even better than Exum. Fans forget he played a pretty decent role and would always guard the opposing team's best wing whenever he came in. This year, he hasn't had the same impact on that side of the court which really makes him have no value whatsoever.
Millsap was worthless on offense and you are seriously over rating his impact on defense last year. He was our 3rd best perimeter defender last year and this year not even that.

He was the weakest link. Not a bad end of the bench player, but we needed something more. My only problem with it is who are we going to bring in now?
Im not really interested in brining in more D leagers. why not just keep Sap? I really want a vet shooter to play a Fisher type role for us minus the drama.
Why keep him is the better question. He was terrible this year, his defense got worse and so did his offense. They would have had to guarantee his remaining contract if they kept him. He wasn't living up to it so why keep him?
