What's new

The Jazz have waived Elijah Millsap

Makes me wonder if DL has other moves in mind? Could we be adding other players or do we keep the 14 player roster & flexibility so we can be a facilitator as we get closer to the trade deadline?

I don't think it signifies trade. With Favors having back problems and Gobert still out, I think it enables the Jazz to sign a big. Typically that's why teams carry 13 or 14 - they leave flexibility to respond to injuries if needed.

Hmm.. with Favors and Gobert coming back soon if anything I think there's a glut of bigs ATM since Withey and Pleiss are doing pretty well.

I'd much rather we get another wing seeing as Burks is still no where near returning and in case Hood is out again...

Johnson is only good enough to be an end-of-the-bench kind of guy. I hope they use the spot to pursue a legit NBA wing player to improve our depth, as opposed to signing d-league guy like the cheapskates they typically are..

Me too. I'm tired of getting excited over guys like Jack Cooley, Tibor Pleiss, and Bryce Cotton. It's time the Jazz bring in some real players. Coach Snyder has done so much with so little... what if DL actually gave him something to work with!

It will be a Jeff Ayres 10 day.

Millsap just never learned how to not be a giant klutz with the ball. Sad too, cause I think he actually had a good offensive IQ (he made some nice passes every now and then) but he just had no idea how to slow himself down or shoot.

He went from being a liability on offense to being a total disaster. Seemed like every time he touched the ball this year he did something really stupid or bad. Shoulda adopted more of a Bruce Bowen outlook to offense.

What about guys like Demarre Carroll and Jeff Withey and Wes Matthews?

I can stand one or two roster spots for guys like that. The Jazz have gone overboard. We have plenty of cap space, if the Jazz really want to win they should use it.

Iam Clark has been balling for the GSW .... he would be a good substitution for Burks right about now.

Imagine Hayward, Hood and Clark sharing the ball... in a triple wing lineup.

He's been averaging 5 ppg. Maybe offer him the max?

Last 5 games he averaged 12.6ppg shooting 66% FG off the bench (mostly when Curry has been injured).

That's nice. But we tried him and he didn't really work out. I never liked his game, and I don't believe he suddenly became good. Would rather go a different route.

Dunno if he fitted our offense very well before, but now with the more emphasis on 3pt shooting, triple wing, etc, he might thrive.

Not saying we should get him, just may be another player who plays in a similar fashion?

You guys are nuts. They cut him before they had to guarantee his pay. A few days will pass and they will re-sign him for cheap. Book it.

He'd probably be better than Neto.

Is his offense really that much worse than last season? His value is (or should I say was) on the other side of the floor. During our insane defensive run at the end of last season, he was our best perimeter defender, even better than Exum. Fans forget he played a pretty decent role and would always guard the opposing team's best wing whenever he came in. This year, he hasn't had the same impact on that side of the court which really makes him have no value whatsoever.

He looked awful so far this year. Last week hr bricked a layup off the bottom of the backboard. He has definitely regressed when he needed to improve.

Quinn, I think, really like little Sap. For a while there he was playing him ahead of Ingles, but he continually turned it over on offense and I think caused us to lose a couple of games because of that. Johnson has clearly played better. No need to add anyone. They have Pleiss backing up Withey and he has actually done better than I expected. Trey is playing lots better than early on, so why would they add a player? They might as well just wait until Burks comes back.
