What's new

The Jazz were the 7th most profitable team last year

Plus low attendance numbers for the Jazz. Hope this puts that nonsense of the team leaving to rest. Jazz will never leave Utah.

Yeah I thought of the same thing. A season that sucked to watch indoors and yet the franchise stands 7th? Man, the Millers should hand out free merchandise to the people of Utah on an annual basis.

Did the season suck because they didn't spend money... or was it because that is where we are in the rebuild? We had low attendance for Utah, but overall wasn't that bad. The Millers are great owners and fans should recognize that. NBA teams are allowed to make money.

I don't think they will get very close to the tax any time soon. The revenue sharing in the next couple years is going to be HHHUUUGGGEEE for the Jazz. With the new TV deals coming in the next few years the Jazz could be getting 30+ million in just revenue sharing, they get luxury take money on top of that too.

This is all really great news for the Jazz because it means the millers are making money.
Sorry, I meant in 4-5 years down the road they will be close to the tax IF they try to keep everyone: Favors, Hayward, Kanter, Burks, Burke and Gobert all with new contracts, Exum on a #5 pick rookie deal, a likely top-10 pick next season, etc. Even if they don't exceed the tax, the profit margin will be slim.

They do tons of stuff. A giant annual thanksgiving dinner for the homeless, the Jr. Jazz was voted best NBA Youth Program this year, free stuff (balls, frisbees, ...) thrown out at games, tons of promos all over Utah, Exum and Hood just ran NBA drills at the Utah Special Olympics...

The Jazz give tons back to their community. They have a very strong relationship with the community.

****. What else is there to do in Salt Lake City? I think the Millers are super lucky that things to do in SLC are nil.

It isn't that there is nothing else to do in Utah it is that a very large portion of the public look for family friendly fun and the Jazz play into that. Also being the only proffesional team in Utah of the Big 4 (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) gives them a littel bit of a monopoly on sports entertainment.
