No. You gotta look at it differently.

In this situation you dont just grab the season stats and define him by that. You have to look at the context of the situation.

This could be basically considered his rookie year or the first year he has gotten a real chance to prove anything. He has been buried on the bench up until this season. He started getting the chance when the injuries for the majic started piling up this year. Particularly to Aarron Gordon, Evan Fiurnier, and Vucevic. Meaning then he started to get a chance to shoot a little more. He had some really nice games during those times. He was a little inconsistent because this was basically his first shot at it. But also consider now all of sudden he is asked to carry a lot more of the load. I imagine he suddenly became a focal point of defenses with no one else to help him out.

It was an up and down season, but there were some games where he showed his potential. Again, thats how we gain some value here. You have to recognize it early. If he were averaging 20ppg on 50% shooting we would be looking at having to max him out and everyone would want him.

Let not pretend this didnt happen

‘Cause as much as I like him and think he’s turned the corner, **** happens and I don’t want to be stuck with that contract. 3/33 I’d do but it’s moot at this point as we don’t have the cap room anyway.
 
Also, we need a legit backup pg. Not Neto. And not Exum. If we re-sign him, fine, but we need someone that legit can run the offense if Rubio goes down. There are enough names out there this summer. We need to snag one.

Where’s this idea that Hezonja can play the 4 coming from? That’s a genuine question as I don’t watch him, but I really dislike the idea of taking a wing and saying they’re a stretch four because they’re 6’8”, which seems to happen with every 6’8” wing. I think those kind of guys fit a different type of definition of stretch four, where you’re stretching the definition of a 4 to apply to a guy who isn’t one.

Yes but he had lots of opportunities to cash in those picks for proven guys and waited... most would have moved a pick for butler or PG.

I don’t know. Poor rebounding big men is a huge pet peeve for me, kind of akin to missing the first of two free throws. Don’t like 4s who can’t grab at least 8 rebounds per 36, which I know is now a harsh criteria only because the league has continued to put high school point guards at the 4 spot.
