The Morman hypothetical

True Story: Clinton wasn't totally crazy when he said that.

The line of questioning was:

That's when Clinton uttered the infamous "depends on the meaning of 'is'" line with respect to the statement that there "is no sexual relationship."

Clinton's argument about the word "is" relates to time-frame. At the time that the statement was made that there is no sexual relationship it was true because, at that point in time no sexual relationship existed. The relationship had ended. Clinton's argument is about the difference between "is" and "was."

It's been portrayed as a big semantics game for obvious reasons, but remember that Kenneth Starr was trying to go after Clinton for perjury. Clinton's argument about why what he said was true, and therefore not perjury, is actually pretty valid.

For the most part yes.

In your opinion what would be the best way to go about curing it? Or at least attempting to.

Clearly...
He's a smart man, so when he's breaking down his judiciary situation, he's thinking at a level which is independently analyzing all facets of the process. But to the outside world his analysis is so painstakingly exact, that it seems as though he is a babbling idiot.

I guess at a certain point... pure genius facades as stupidity.

If you want the real answer, next year go to the mormon missionary booth at the gay pride parade and talk to the thousands of them. They will tell you some crazy **** that is pretty consistent across all of the momons and former mormons who are gay.

Crazy stuff regarding what?

I'm sure some therapy would be needed. But given the nature of the beast I think you'd need a lot of heavenly help. I don't think it's something you do on your own even with therapy.

Do you consider it to be akin to a mental illness or defect?

I laugh at the notion of 'curing' homsexuality. Concentration camps are the obvious answer.

Are you and Conan talking about changing the behavior or changing the inclination?

I think the inclination...any behavior can be stopped if someone wants to stop it badly enough (i.e. a smoker or alcoholic always will have the inclination to smoke/drink but they can quit even if they don't WANT to). Granted, I don't consider homosexuality to be a bad habit akin to those nor a sin but I don't wanna get into a heated discussion over that. I was just curious what he'd consider a logical way to change.
