What's new

The offense & rotations

No changes are coming. This is who we are and completely sold out for. Our only hope is that things start to click sometime and this team is better than this. I'm really starting to have my doubts how this team pieces together.

Conley is the worst PG on this team right now.
Bogey and Mitchell are great but do they really compliment one another?
Gobert is Gobert but I feel like everyone is thinking it all his responsibility to play defense and get every rebound.
Ingles is not really himself anymore. I mean what happened to all that moxy?
Mudiay is ok but he's not a guy to be relied upon as much as he is.
Jeff Green is even less consistent than Crowder.
Niang is worthless outside of hitting an occasional 3.
Bradley, yeah maybe if we had minutes that weren't so important for him he'd be solid.
The bench as a whole is getting outplayed nearly every night.

I'm just frustrated. Outside of a few spurts here and there I think these guys have played bad basketball. No rhyme or reason with our offensive flow, standing around watching other guys make plays, no energy, soft, complete package. I told myself mid January but it's getting tough.

Mike Conley doesn't seem to play hard or aggressive at all. The trickle down effect is real. The Jazz should start Ingles and bring Conley off the bench. Run Ingles and Mitch at the semi point guard role and run with it.

Mike Conley is our new, outrageously over paid Shelvin Mack. Quin gonna ride or die with him.
it's not about Quin any more. Pop tried the midget backcourt experiment in DM and Kemba this summer and failed miserably, and Conley at this point of his career isn't even half the player that Kemba is. DL simply made an awful tactical mistake with this whole Conley experiment, and it costs us.

It’s time to start Ingles in place of Royce ... pacers just left him wide open , for a very good reason ..

Subbing out mitchell at the 6 min mark I don’t get , he is, what 25yo ? He isn’t Stockton in his last few years ..

Pacers pick and rolled us to death ... Conley was terrible in defending it , I was waiting for an exum sighting for this exact situation

Everyone panics after a loss. Offense has been fine the last 3 or 4 games. Very good at times. Tonight we got solid looks but just didn't hit shots. We obviously still have stuff to work on but we don't need a major overhaul.

I'm still not panicking in regards to Conley. I'm sold that he'll figure it out. We've already seen signs of that over the last 10ish games. I'm patient enough to wait until he gets it. As long as he's ready by the playoffs we're fine.

Bogey is great, I think we can all agree on that. But I think one thing he can work on is a second move when his first move isn't there. He turns the ball over too much on the first move. Whether it's on the perimeter (traveling calls) or on straight line drives because he has one move on his mind. I think Quin could help him in this area by using him as a cutter more and letting the passer find him going to the rim.

Donovan has a similar issue in regards to having a move on his mind and sometimes struggling to find a counter. I think that simply slowing down sometimes would help him. See the defense, take your time, and break it down. He seems to go too fast sometimes. I'd also love to see him work on his vision. I know there are times when Quin is asking him to be aggressive and find his shot. But we've all seen the plays where nothing was there for him and a simple pass could find an open guy. One more thing I've noticed with Donovan is that he NEEDS to use that snatchback more. That move is so money. His shot out of it is smooth as butter. Defenses can't stop that move. Either they play too tight and give Donovan the rim OR he gets a wide open jumper. That needs to be his go-to. Spam that s***. I think he'll realize it in time. But right now he's still a young guy trying to figure things out. Sometimes it's easy to forget how young he is.

Rudy... just needs to keep being Rudy.

Royce, if you have an open shot take it my dude. You can shoot it.

Joe will be fine. Not worried.

I'm happy with Mudiay. Some nights we're going to love Mudiay because he's going to score 10-15 efficiently and be a gamechanger. Other nights we'll hate him because his aggressive scoring instincts will lead to inefficiency and turnovers. That's why he's a backup. I'll live with the bad nights because this team needs the scoring pop he can give.

There are a few minor changes I'd like to see. First, I want Jarrell Brantley getting Georges Niangs minutes. There's no downside to that move. Niang has been a minus player for us all season. If you play Brantley in those minutes and he doesn't play well then the only thing that changes is that we know we still don't have an answer for those minutes. It wouldn't harm us on the court at all. If he plays well it's awesome sauce. Second, Quin needs to do a better job playing the matchups with his bench. He keeps playing Jeff Green at 5 against big centers and Tony Bradley at 5 against small lineups and that isn't working. Flip that. Hopefully Ed Davis gets back soon.

Thought Conley would improve the offense just by being another threat which would create an easier shot distribution for Mitchell. The opposite has been true. More of Mitchell's shots seem to be hero ball because he feels the need to shoot it whenever he has the ball. He's not getting the system buckets I imagined.

Mitchell's complete lack of progression as far as making reads and decisions with the ball is also not helping.
