What's new

The official extend Clarkson thread.

The LT is likely to be >$140 million next offseason and the Jazz are at ~$106 million without re-signing Clarkson or Royce. For whatever that is worth. I personally think the Jazz are good on this front but we'll see.

Good stuff. So back of the napkin math should make it where we should be able to resign both and the middle level? Figuring roughly $13m for each Royce and Clarkson.....but who knows I guess and still a bit confused on which exception we would have.

Miller’s have said they would pay the tax....no?
My guess is Royce goes for about $11. Not sure about Clarkson. You sell him on winning 6th man of the year for a contender. But we’d have both the MLE and BAE.

If the Jazz kept Clarkson's rights (which they probably will do, but let's not get ahead of ourselves on how good he is), they would definitely be over the cap which would mean they would have the full MLE and should have the BAE in addition to infinite minimum-contract slots (which if the Jazz make a deep run could actually yield real players).

None of this takes into account that one of our G-League heroes could pop on the Jazz.

Another scenario that I think is realistic is that through some sequence of events, Clarkson is gone and Royce isn't yet re-signed, which would mean the Jazz actually have $10-$11 million in cap space which might be enough to grab a really good player on the backend of their career like Gallinari since all the teams with a ton of capspace aren't any good, so there's a good chance the market for players like him (Iguodala, Ibaka, whoever else) is won by a good team that can offer just a little bit more. In such a circumstance, the Jazz would still have the room MLE as well.

Bradley was a -1 in 11 minutes last night. I’ll take that knowing Harrell is probably the best bench 5 in the league. In my ideal world, we continue to roll with TB behind Gobert, sign Faried or Noah as well, and then trade Davis and NWG/Niang for someone like Bertans.

Niang and Mudiay had atrocious +/-last night.

Never seen him play but in looking at names we could possibly acquire (players on contending teams, who would require real assets to attain, or who make too much money are off limits imo), I sort of wonder about Cheick Diallo. Similar career rebounding numbers to Davis but faaaar superior scoring per 36 and super high TS%. He rarely plays.

Markieff Morris is super cheap (3.2M) and might make a lot of sense too though his rebounding numbers leave a lot to be desired but I’d guess we’d need a real asset that we don’t have to get him. Not sure.
