The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Giuliani is part of DOJ now? He's Trump's personal lawyer ffs. His involvement is one of the biggest red flags in this whole affair.

If you really think this is about corruption in Ukraine, please point to a single example of Trump bringing this topic up that doesn't involve his political adversaries.
This. The claim that Trump was motivated by reducing corruption in Ukraine is complete garbage, an insult to our intelligence.

He didn't request it, he merely suggested it.

“Nice country ya got there. You know we do a lot for ya. Oh so you’re ready for some more military aid huh? That’s good. I’m interested in two favors, can you investigate Joe Biden’s son and tell me everything about crowdstrike and a missing Hillary server. But don’t tell it to the ambassador I just canned. Tell it through my personal lawyer. He's my new Cohen. It’ll be nice to see you in DC soon, I’d very much like to see it.”

“Nice whistleblower you got there. Be a shame if something happened to it...

What?! I didn’t explicitly tell anyone to do anything! I’m totally misunderstood by the libtard media!”

This. It’s insulting to our intelligence when trumpers claim:

1. Trump cares about corruption.
2. Trump didn’t ask for a quid pro quo in that phone call. You’d have to be denser than a brick wall in the dead of winter to not understand the purpose of the call.

Has trump ever displayed an interest in reducing corruption in people who aren’t regarded as political rivals? His cabinet and endless scandals, his transactional foreign policy, and his own personal conduct provide us with zero evidence that eliminating corruption has ever been a priority in his life. I mean, we have tapes of him bragging about sexual assault and paying off women he’s slept with (stories which he initially denied. Sooooo corruption?)

Besides, I seem to remember him being pretty complacent when a certain dictator ordered the dismemberment of a certain journalist. If corruption was such a concern, why didn’t he use the world outrage of the dismemberment of a journalist to cut down on the corruption of Saudi Arabia?

Information from the DOJ investigation should flow from Ukraine --> DOJ --> Gulliani. However, as Trump's defense attorney, it's relevant to hear first-hand what evidence there is related to his client. This doesn't involve Biden though. This involves the 2016 election scandal. Those are two separate topics.

This is a weird post.

Does Giuliani work for the DOJ, State Dept, or for the president? I thought he was just Donald’s personal lawyer. When did he become a cia operative or a member of the DOJ? Is there a precedent for this?

So @Catchall, that's pretty much exactly what you were requesting a few posts back, right? Good enough for you if this gets verified?

Withholding Congress-approved foreign aid on the condition that Ukraine investigates the Bidens appears to cross the line for me. Then it's a question of whether that constitutes High Crimes and Misdemeanors enough to be impeachable.

However, asking Ukraine to support corruption investigations that involve the U.S., and asking Ukraine not to be party to U.S. corruption going forward, would simply be conducting state business.

Trump is motivated by the AG Barr / John Durham DOJ investigation into the 2016 election and a counter-intelligence operation against Trump's campaign. That investigation involves evidence and witnesses in Ukraine. This is what Trump is referring to when he says that Barr may reach out to Zelenskyy. That's one area where the U.S. has direct interest in Ukraine corruption. Those facts really need to come out from the DOJ.

I think a lot of people are not considering this investigation and its Ukraine connection because the investigation has been kept quiet and has received only minimal media coverage.

That's because it's based on a far right wing conspiracy theory about a "missing server" that is somehow meant to prove that Ukraine was helping Hillary in the 2016 election.

This is the DOJ investigation, not a right-wing conspiracy. This is what Trump was referring to in the call transcript. Yet, most Dems don't seem to realize it. It goes well beyond questions about the Crowdstrike server.

The Justice Department revealed that U.S. Attorney John Durham, picked by Attorney General William Barr to look into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, is investigating whether Ukraine was involved in any 2016 election efforts.

“A Department of Justice team led by U.S. Attorney John Durham is separately exploring the extent to which a number of countries, including Ukraine, played a role in the counterintelligence investigation directed at the Trump campaign during the 2016 election,” DOJ spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said Wednesday. “While the Attorney General has yet to contact Ukraine in connection with this investigation, certain Ukrainians who are not members of the government have volunteered information to Mr. Durham, which he is evaluating.”

You realize those things are not mutually exclusive right?
