The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

It's my opinion that you are ultimately going to be disappointed by the strength of this "evidence."

ive already heard confessions from trump and his chief of staff so rest assured I am not disappointed. The trump lemmings will of course vote to acquit and their reputations will follow him off the cliff.

He isn't though, maybe he was and shouldn't have been, but his relationship with Epstein basically torpedoed his respectability. Well that and making ludicrous constitutional arguments.

Just in case you wanted some evidence beyond basic common sense that abuse of power is an impeachable offense, here's Alexander Hamilton's opinion in the Federalist Papers:

A well-constituted court for the trial of impeachments is an object not more to be desired than difficult to be obtained in a government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself.

Hamilton sounds prescient here:

"According to preeminent Hamilton biographer Ron Chernow, Hamilton was trying to protect the country from someone with demagogic tendencies. "From the outset, Hamilton feared an unholy trinity of traits in a future president — ambition, avarice and vanity," Chernow wrote last month in The Washington Post.

He points to one of Hamilton's writings in 1792 where the Treasury secretary warns about someone who might exhibit those inclinations, and Chernow argues that it sounds a lot like the current occupant of the Oval Office:

"When a man unprincipled in private life[,] desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper . . . despotic in his ordinary demeanour — known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty — when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity — to join in the cry of danger to liberty — to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion — to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day — It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may 'ride the storm and direct the whirlwind."

You guys are a broken record. Every single time you guys present the liberal side of every issue and they are always wrong. You have been certain that every BS scandal and accusation would be "the one". Yet here we are, a sham of an impeachment continues and the Senate can finally call actual witnesses. They are no longer hiding behind closed doors like the House did. Trump Derangement Syndrome gone wild!!!

I do believe some Trump supporters conflate bullying and strength. Trump certainly talks like a bully. My problem with this persona is I do equate it with weakness and insecurity. I think we should take very seriously the degree of insecurity the man displays. I should think we would be concerned with what we see, given that we handed him the highest office in our government. Doesn't everybody notice this by now, this man who seems to worry only about what others think of him? That's human, but he takes it to an unhealthy degree. He cannot hide his deep insecurities. Don't have to be an armchair psychologist to see that. It's a signature characteristic of Donald Trump.

But I think perhaps his bullying persona, his tough guy persona, is seen as strength by some of his supporters, perhaps in proportion to who is being verbally slammed by Trump. Trump supporters should understand this tough guy bully is just an act. It's the quite transparent insecurity that reveals the truth behind that act. It's so transparent. How can you ignore that degree of insecurity, given his position?

I've never known a bully exterior that was not masking a coward at heart.

Further, the alternative reality Trump and his allies in the media have created is truly diabolical, with its elements of the press as the enemy, the news as Lie, the Deep State aligned against the people. They have driven it home until it is believed in by millions. And that's what's diabolical about it. To deliberately foster belief in a lie, that likely has the staying power to continue to manipulate the minds and actions of a considerable portion of the electorate for a long time. Trump may be the star of this fiction now, it's his cocoon, his weaponized alternative history, but it can be utilized by other power mongers, other demagogues. Or simply exist as a huge psychological cesspool conditioning beliefs that generate hate and division for generations more. We will have Trump, Barr, Giuliani, Nunes, Hannity and Co, for helping create this sickness.

Even without conspiracy tween Trump and Putin, could Putin have possibly asked for more than this? Seems to me it may even be the seed of our demise as a nation. I don't know how one deprograms a cult, when the cult is this huge. Trumpsters have been hoodwinked, how do you help them realize this? It will have to start with Trumpsters being honest with themselves.

And you know what? Realizing all this about Trump does not require anything called Trump Derangement Syndrome. It simply requires knowing right from wrong, inner strength from massive insecurity, a good heart from cruelty.

I honestly believe the true TDS is the Trump cult itself.

Their defense is to basically summarize Trump’s tweets in lawyerspeak

I have no clue what you are saying here.
In that particular case it was saying that when the GAO said that Trump committed a crime it seems reasonable to look to the past to see the reaction when the GAO said that Obama had committed a crime. Turns out that under the past administration acts designated as crimes by the GAO don't matter to the left or the media at all. Why should they matter now? Similar scenarios keep playing out. While most people on the right don't like the rules that the left has successfully written, they are not willing to play by rules that are harsher/stricter than the those imposed on their opponents.

I hope Trump never uses bleach bit to delete 30K of subpoenaed emails, but if he does the left is going to deserve all the explanations of why such an act does not matter that are bound to rain down upon them.

Trumpers still throwing this debunked conspiracy around? Why not recycle some Vince Foster or Seth rich stuff while you’re at it? I could maybe understand being this ignorant for a short period of time because all you do is consume right wing media. But it’s been years since the FBI investigated this and came to the conclusion that the server company did this without Clinton’s knowledge and without criminal intent. And before you call the FBI a bunch of liberal Clinton lovers, remember, Comey was a registered Republican and did Clinton zero favors in 2016.

Facts
Still
Matter

Why are Trumpers so stupid? Or does Trumpism make people stupid?

you are making progress by equating Trump’s crimes to those of criminal Democrats, so good for you.

We agree that trump is a criminal
