And what so many pro-Trumpers have been ignoring-- if it was all on the up and up, what's with the involvement of Rudy Giuliani? He's not a government actor at all but rather representing Trump's personal/campaign interests.

It's an interesting thing to consider, what would happen to the current Democratic primary if Trump and Pence were to be simultaneously removed from office (very unlikely obviously) and Pelosi were to become president. Would Pelosi bow out completely after a year and not run for re-election next year? Would she decide to run and somehow be incorporated into the primary process? Would the other candidates stop running so she could run unopposed? Etc.

Do you have any obligation to justify the work you do for clients to third parties? If someone came up to me demanding to know why I have the job I have and what it is exactly I'm paid to do I'd tell them to take a hike.

You're demanding now to have a justification for his position and acting like it's ridiculous not to have one. Has anyone asked him to see what he says, or would that ruin your ability to hammer at that pretty insignificant point?
 
Thought this was really interesting. If more republican voters voiced their support for impeachment, that would go a long way to fixing their party. Think they’ll do that?

I think a lot of it will depend on public sentiment during/after the House impeachment proceedings. Right now I'd bet not, but if public sentiment turns even further against Trump, then perhaps.
