Then again, since we are talking about trump, maybe when he said it could be a good thing he was thinking there would be some way to make the virus only kill Democratic voters or maybe he thought it would hit Democratic states harder and that's why he thought it could be a good thing. Who knows? Trump definitely would do anything to win.

No way to know. Maybe led to fewer deaths up to this point yet still just as many down the road.

We have know idea how many people this is going to infect. We don't know if people who had it will get it again. We don't know if it will mutate. We don't know if it will go away and come back.

Impossible to know if less would die if someone else were in charge.

I definitely think anyone else would have handled things better up to this point though of course. Trump is an idiot.

On March 31, the Transportation Security Administration said that it screened only 154,080 passengers across the country — the lowest in the past decade. On the same day in 2019, it screened 2.3 million people.

Initial jobless claims nationwide are at unprecedented levels: The latest data showed a staggering 6.648 million people filed for unemployment claims, up from 3.307 million claims in the previous week. Prior to the coronavirus-induced economic shock, the previous record was 695,000 claims filed the week that ended October 2, 1982.

This is all true. But we do know for a fact that had Trump been more proactive and aggressive three weeks ago and called for a nationwide two week quarantine some time around 3/16 (except for true non-essentials) and come up with a fiscal plan for those two weeks far in advance (ya know since we knew the coronavirus was here since January 20th), than we would’ve undoubtedly isolated it far better than we have. Hospitals would’ve been able to handle it far better than they have. This is all hypothetical of course because it’s unreasonable to think Trump would be smart and selfless enough to do the right thing and/or do the smart thing that experts in the field suggest. But it’s nice to wonder what could have been.

I believe dalamon was implying that Sanders would have responded sooner and treated the disease more like the threat it was. That would make a difference in areas like NYC.

and for the morons still thinking everything’s gonna be ok and Trump still has this under control. You have no idea what’s coming. We’ve been screaming for weeks with half assed solutions being thrust upon us.
