The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

I have been reading that there is talks of trump giving putin some of alaska's resources or something? Good grief
We bought Alaska from Russia for $7 million! Running joke in Anchorage the past few days has been excitement over the summit being held in their town, but also begging Trump not to return Alaska to Russia!

The “press conference”(no questions allowed, 100% Putin’s decision) really was disgraceful. Putin leads off, on American soil, as the guest!!! Gives Donald a bone by saying “I can confirm no war with Ukraine if Trump was president”!! lol, and Trump, unable to resist “Russia….Russia…Russia” for the upteenth time since 2016. It was just a humiliating performance, on American soil, including a red carpet welcome for a wanted war criminal. As Alexander Vindman said last night, paraphrasing, the press conference was a stunning display of how far the office of the presidency of the United States has fallen under a wanna be dictator.

If I were these men, I would resent Trump for the rest of my life for assigning me the task of unfurling the red carpet for a mass murderer and wanted war criminal! What a shameful insult to all the innocent Ukrainians killed in Putin’s war!

As Alexander Vindman said last night, the summit and press conference by Trump represented a debasement of the presidency. And for what? So Putin, a universal pariah, wanted for war crimes, could be welcomed back into the community of nations?! General consensus, by the talking heads last night, is that the war will continue now. Absolutely nothing was accomplished. Other than demonstrating to the free world what the free world already knew: Donald Trump is the most un-American president in American history, supporting and promoting everything that we have stood against since the defeat of fascism 80 years ago.

trump bullies Zelensky and blames him for starting the war and criticizes his clothes and acts like a tough guy in their meeting.

He has a red carpet, and limo ride, and airplane fly overhead for Putin and laughs and jokes with him and claps for him and kisses his *** during the meeting with Putin.

Two very different meetings. Only thing both meetings have in common is nothing got accomplished and no deal was made.

Guys, this is the longest 24 hours in history.

Of course @Red is posting all the biased, negative crap from the media that hates Trump. All the warmongers that want this war to go on forever so they can keep making their money.
And yet, all Trump did at the summit was improve the chances that the war will continue unabated. He accomplished nothing, and had active duty soldiers kneel and roll out the red carpet for a man wanted for war crimes. He let Putin lead off the presser, he let Vladimir decide there would be no questions. It was a huge win for Putin. And once again, Trump acted like a groupie meeting his hero. WTF?
You are incapable of seeing how disgraceful Trump’s “summit” was. He has improved the likelihood the war continues unabated.

In addition, Trump did this:

And that is why Trump is doing any of this. I can assure you, Trump does not care if 20 million people die in the Russia-Ukraine war. He’s a sociopath and a morality-free fascist. He does not give a damn how many die! His one and only interest in any of this is winning a Nobel Peace Prize. And the main reason is because Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize.

I swear, if Trump announced this week that he had decided to drop a nuclear bomb on LA, you would be here posting “YES!!”.

Amateur hour at the Alaska summit.

Papers with U.S. State Department markings, found Friday morning in the business center of an Alaskan hotel, revealed previously undisclosed and potentially sensitive details about the Aug. 15 meetings between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir V. Putin in Anchorage.

Eight pages, that appear to have been produced by U.S. staff and left behind accidentally, shared precise locations and meeting times of the summit and phone numbers of U.S. government employees.

At around 9 a.m. on Friday, three guests at Hotel Captain Cook, a four-star hotel located 20 minutes from the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage where leaders from the U.S. and Russia convened, found the documents left behind in one of the hotel's public printers. NPR reviewed photos of the documents taken by one of the guests, who NPR agreed not to identify because the guest said they feared retaliation…..

…..Jon Michaels, a professor of law at UCLA who lectures about national security, said that the documents found in the printer of the Alaskan hotel reveal a lapse in professional judgement in preparation for a high-stakes meeting.

"It strikes me as further evidence of the sloppiness and the incompetence of the administration," said Michaels. "You just don't leave things in printers. It's that simple."

The printed papers are the latest example of a series of security breaches by officials of the Trump administration. Earlier this week, members of a law enforcement group chat that included members of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) added a random person to a conversation about an ongoing search for a convicted attempted murderer. In March, U.S. national security leaders accidentally included a journalist in a group chat about impending military strikes in Yemen.

This is a great post. I couldn’t help but notice the difference between the two meetings as well. Trump fears/respects authoritarians while he doesn’t like principled and decent democratic leaders. Sad

I thought this thread was helpful to understand Trump’s psychology and those who continue to adore him:
