You misunderstood if you thought I compared the US/SK to the Brit/India. The point of the comment was that Brits.... and the whole anglophile world.... imagine the rest of the world needs our leadership somehow. The UN being as I allege a sort of modern Empire in the hands of the very smart world-class divide-and-conquer.... well.... really "divide and set against and upon one-anther master puppeteer Brit "elites" and their cohorts in the US/WhiteManWorld.

Getting China to move first is exactly what Putin wants, as Russia stands to benefit from Chinese aggression, as it allows them to exclusively negotiate with NK. He now can further align with another nuclear power and further fortifying his boarders.

Oil is the elephant in the room as usual. China is slowly moving off a fossil fuel economy, even further disengaging with Russian interests,. The bedrock of the Russian economy is energy extraction. They're banking heavily on finding oil in NK, as they began getting after it in 2015. Putin sees what energy dependance does for an economy and national security. We're rich, bitch and don't **** with us.

Here's an idea. Wanna crush Russia? Move to a renewable economy and cripple them into the next century.

Not a bad idea if you aren't scared of China and Russia teaming up. China holds 95% of the world's rare earth metal reserves, which are a requirement in pretty much all new technology.

So, let's say you get off of oil and are now 100% dependent on China for your energy needs. Does China deal with us or does China deal with the Russians to become the next sole (duo) superpower?

That's all a hypothetical anyway as any change in oil consumption will be gradual regardless of any conceivable regulatory requirement or public sentiment. The demand market simply will not be able to adjust fast enough (higher prices pressing deflation yet again) to compensate for any massive push that could make a difference on the Russian front.
