The Offseason Cha-cha-changes Thread

There are like 10 in the league lol... you ain't getting any cheap. And its exactly why I agree with you.

The super funny line in TJs interview the other day was Jazz are going to surround Donovan with long defenders that can shoot... yeah no ****... they been trying with limited assets to do that... it hasn't worked.
It’s why they drafted McDaniels. Oh wait.

Yes, let’s put him on the block of all people; the guy that has never leaked or intimated in any way that he was looking to bounce.

Right? Let's trade the guy that wants to retire a Jazzman. Let's cater to the guy that's going to bounce in three years when his contract is up and build the team around him. I'm team Rudy all the way.

I didn’t have a problem with Rudy calling out teammates defense when he referenced Booker and turning it on in the playoffs. He didn’t mention Mitchell by name. And if Mitchell felt it was pointed at him, then he has to realize he’s part of the problem. Basketball is played on 2 ends of the floor and Mitchell’s defense has been absolute *** all season. Why does he get a pass? Why isn’t he held accountable? Rudy has cleaned up for Donovan‘s mistakes over and over but now the Jazz want to keep Donovan? I’d rather keep the guy who has been loyal to Utah over the guy that’s likely to ask out.

Hassan was the one guy that consistently and vocally had Rudy's back all season. After the way this organization treated Rudy, I don't blame him for peacing out.
I think signing him was a mistake (because everyone knew how Quin would use him to make the team totally reliant on one scheme), but I loved having him. It says a lot that he was probably the most fun part of the season.

The Jazz ought to fold up the Stars. The concept of using them for player development is a joke. If they have a young player they want to send to the GLeague, use another team's GLeague team. The Stars were awful and many times were forced to play with 6 or 7 players. Zaire Wade was pitiful at that level. If they are looking to cut costs, this would be a way to do it. Fun fact: Trent Forrest was a two way player for two seasons and appeared in exactly zero Stars games.

Its time to put him out there as well... even though he has been wonderful.

The song that keeps playing in my head is "I Ain't Mad At Cha". We just need to head a different direction and I ain't mad at anyone really. It just happens.

Rudy's limitations are part of the struggle. The stress over making sure he had touches then hangs over the team whether he deserves them or not. The contract has potential to age poorly... its just time.

Let me clear: I don’t disagree. I’m just saying the franchise debasing itself for a guy that doesn’t wanna be here and is not a guy you can build a contender around by dangling his counterpart over a cliff to make him happy is a ****** way to go about things. I think it sets the organization up not only for failure, it looks desperate and is embarrassing.

I agree it’s time to seriously look at trading Rudy. but to quote you, if you trade one, you trade both.

But if we’re talking about things beyond contracts and basketball, I will always back Rudy.

I don't think there's been an attempt. I think the FO was content with what they had. Several players who would be great moves were moved over the past year, many of them for pennies, and the Jazz landed zero. It wasn't an issue of not having the assets or it "not working", it was overvaluing what they had and refusing to acknowledge the very real and obvious issues with this roster. I'd say they're completely crazy, but honestly that was a popular opinion around here. Whenever I brought up trading Clarkson, Bogey, our pick etc it was met with heavy resistance.
