Man lots of memories from my youth dying recently. Guess it means I'm getting old. Some of my earliest tv memories were the Smothers Brothers on variety shows in the 70's.

John Pilger dead at 84, half an hour into the new year and one of my heroes has died. I remember reading Pilger as a young man one of the few authors that could reduce me to tears with his prose. Devastating loss to the world of ideas.

The lack of coverage of this mans death is a national disgrace. John is a great Australian, he will be missed not just by his absence but by the dearth of ability of those that follow him,.

Really, not much coverage ?? That’s lame af. Groundbreaking work. One of the most upstanding blokes ever.

Not surprising he was incredibly critical of the establishment and the media as an extension of the establishment.

Costs money and requires intelligence, two things sadly missing in media organisations. Part of the problem is so many journalists who cover politics are too focused on maintaining relationships with the people they are reporting on.
