Should Kanter have taken minutes from Burke, Hayward, Burkes, Favors, or Jefferson?

That is a false choice. If Kanter gets 75 minutes from Williams, he has the third most minutes on the team, behind only Hayward and Burke (2213)

Second question: my rational for playing them more together would be to find out how they play together. Can they be our version of randolph and gasol? griffin and deandre? Love and pekovic?

We still dont know and will probably have to use next season to find out instead of last season which was the perfect year to find out what works or not

And the very same argument could be had in terms of Hayward and Burks. Sure Alec got 28 mins/per, but we really needed hose minutes to be with the rest of the starters. Why do we always refer to "team defense?" It's because the players have to develop chemistry together, to know how each will react to different scenarios. And the same holds true on offense. You learn to play off each others tendencies and strengths and weaknesses. And the only way to do that is by getting time on the court...TOGETHER!

Both of these are great. Someone please rep these guys for me.

Kanter is 22. Lopez is 26. Kanter missed a lot of opportunities to play. I think he has more overall upside than Favors. I'd put him above Favors right now. Kanter is a decent one on one defender due to his size/strength. He had trouble on the pick and roll, but I think under the right coach he'd improve. I don't see Favors improving on offense. At least not much.

I think Favors will improve offensively but everything you said about Kanter is true.

Why are we giving up on him? He's just starting to get it.

I believe his biggest issue is his confidence offensively. If the Jazz play more uptempo then I see him getting better all around because he'll get easy buckets throughout the game.

Yup. Favors was born to be getting dunks on the break..... but rarely got that chance.

No one is giving up on Kanter. IF the Jazz want to move up in this draft they will have to give up something others view as highly valuable. Kanter will never be an above average interior defender which is key to what Lindsey is trying to create so he is more expendable than than Favors. And I think the Jazz feel like they got a good deal with the Contract they signed with Favors.

The good news is that this really does look like a deep draft and having the number 5 pick is not a bad place to be. The other good news is that the Jazz still have assets that are valuable and a lot of cap space to play with. So making a move is still very possible. Obviously getting in the top 3 would have been great and it would have made a lot easier decision making.

Now that you are at 5, there are two players you have to make a call on. First, do the Jazz believe Gobert can be a starting center on a contending team? If so, you use Kanter as trade bait to try and move up or get another asset. Second, do you believe Trey is your point guard of the future? If not, you package him for some kind of deal. That is what picking 5th does for us - you have to make a call on those two guys, perhaps earlier than you wanted to make that decision.

well, Gobert is rare one among the C's in this league due to his size, mobility, rebounding and blocking ability but he's still so raw so all fans gotta be so patient about him and it will take some time for him to play meaningfull min behind Kanter or Favors. Next year starting him next to Favors according to your plan is just not realistic. Same goes Burke too, as we have seen all year, he's so talented and knocks down clutch shots but made lots of rookie mistake which is so normal for a rookie. I hope the team insists on youngsters and let them play this year so we can decide easily about this team's future. Last thing is, if we know the culture of this team, it would be so surprising to see any trade to go up on the draft list.

Even though he was recovering from an injury in the first part of the season, Kanter played over 2100 minutes, and Burks played almost 2200. The each took over 800 shots, as opposed to Jefferson's 650 and Williams 530. Corbin did many things wrong last season, but one thing hie did right was give time and possessions to Burks and Kanter.

Before you can be the combination of Love and Pekovic, you have to have the individual Love and the individual Pekovic. They needed individual development.

Last season, we would have found out how well they played together as inexperienced players. When they play together this season, we will get a much better idea of their potential than we could have last season, because they will be closer to the full potential.

That may be what you wanted, but it wasn't what Burks needed. Burks needed a chance to show his skills and develop his game.

Will it take a season to develop defensive chemistry? Perhaps. Were ever going to win a championship in the 2014-15 season? No. It makes little sense to sacrifice Burks' individual development, and not get a better idea of his potential, so we can develop defensive chemistry on a team where that will, at best, get us a 6 seed as opposed to an 8 seed. If we are going for a championship, then we need to grow the players first, and then let them develop chemistry as fully realized individuals.
