The Solution.

Fess is far from an interior presence. He rarely effects the game at all.

The fact that Kobe averaged more blocks per game in the series last year screams a lot about Fess.

Jefferson and Mislap are both small for thier position. The Jazz struggle against longer teams. Mislap and Jefferson have both had early game foul trouble. Sloan says they play tenative in the 1st quarter because they are afraid of picking up fouls.

THe solution is to Start FES 3-5 Minutes at the start of each half. PLay Jefferson at the 4 durring that time. Let the 6'-5" Milsap come in to play more minutes against the second unit.

The Jazz record when Fes' gets at least 14 minutes is 6-2. It was 6-1 before the Boston game. And I hardly think we can blame him for Boston given that they were already down 20 by the time he got to play.

In actuality Fes would probably be useful. His single greatest skill is that he simply takes up tons of space and prevents people from taking shots in the middle of the floor. The Jazz have been showing a lot of zone recently in their defensive schemes (I actually think this is to hide a particular player, but that's a different thread) and teams have been getting right to the center of the floor and punishing the zone as a result. Fes is the one player we have who was born to solve this specific problem. So of course he's been chained to the bench.

Its worth a shot to start Fesenko, nothing to lose. The team will be stuck in quicksand forever playing midget ball.

Fes being the answer? NO. Would he help us out right now, yes. But I think that we need to look at the Utah jazz of the future. Its very obvious that what we have right now is nothing close to where we're trying to go with the team. I still believe that KOC needs to pull his head out and start figuring out some solutions to our current problems that we are having. (Meaning lets start examining sending some out and bringing some in before the trade deadline.)

what solution?

Is this team going to make the playoffs? Most likely

Are they going to win a round or two? Likely

Mission accomplished for Greg Miller. Rinse. Repeat.

Pretty much sums it up. As long as we keep making the playoffs, many Jazz fans are happy. Because we can say that the Jazz have made it to the playoffs for 15 years in a row!!!!
