The Stretch 4 Discussion Thread

Thabo is going to be the starter next year, besides the first 5 games, which will be Jae Crowder. There isnt anyone good enough on the free agent market to be the starting 4 given the Jazz's available money (all they have is the MLE at 8.6 million).

I would love to get Anthony Tolliver. The guy is one of the true shooting big men, not just a big guy who learned to be a shooter. He is a true marksman.

He would definitely be one of my top targets in free agency.

I think he could be had on the cheap and would be a good stopgap option. A better Jerebko (who was basically unplayable in the POs). A 1+1 at or around $4M per year I think could be enough.

Maybe. He was great this year. He is basically the same player Ryan Anderson is.

I said that "I don't think we have the assets to get Kawhi." I respect your opinion that we should target Gordon, but I just don't share that opinion. We can get Gordon one of two ways:

#1 - we let Favors, Exum, Thabo, Jerekbo, Neto and Udoh walk. We then sign Gordon to a max or near max. We then hope Orlando doesn't match it (really, really hope).

#2 - we sign and trade for Gordon, but what do we use? Who do we have under contract that they want? Rubio? Gobert? Ingles? Orlando can find a much, much better sign and trade than what we have to offer.

I love the idea of Winslow. Seems like a contributor for the next decade. Not a star, but a Crowder type. I'd take another Crowder.... And yes, Tobias Harris is a gamble due to his contract. But his skill set would be perfect...

You opened the door so... For AG we would have to cut ties with Thabo, Jerebko, and Udoh... but I don't see them as game changers. As for Favors, Exum, and Neto: as long as they are not signed in the first few days of free agency the Jazz could still pick them up if Orlando matched. Of them, only Exum would hurt. Maybe there is a way to move Alec instead and keep Exum's rights.

Yeah. He was good in Sacramento too (even better this year). He is 33 and got 3.3 M last year when there was more money on the market. I think there are going to be bargains and if you make an early run at a guy like him you may get him fairly cheap... 4-5M would be fair.

I also enjoyed his FA Decision Mockumentary a few years ago.

I mean, just look at his shot chart. 44% from above the break is +++ elite. That's the same %'s as Curry and Thompson from above the break. Guys like Mirotic, Anderson, and Love dont shoot that well from above the break.

He gets it off pretty quickly too. He is a defensive liability, but so are Anderson et al. Jonas tries really hard on defense and hustles, but he is not great there.

We ended up getting Jae, but it was annoying seeing Houston pick up PJ when I've been clamouring for him for the last few years while he was in Phoenix. It was very obvious that he'd play a big role on a contending team.

I always like him too... to be fair though, he normally does not shoot THAT well. I could see GS leaving him open and him missing a lot of shots.

Detroit will have to fit Tolliver in at less than 4M to duck the tax... and still might not be able to do it... they need to move off some money.

His career DBPM is -.8, so it's not like he's a huge liability, at least not much more than what Jerebko is (who is a career -.3)

He was *** in Toronto. He looked good playing with two of the best PG's of all time.

Most of his shots were wide *** open.

I think Houston regrets the back end of that deal. That seems like a guy who might gain 20lbs in an offseason and become unplayable.
