The Trade Favors and Add a Replacement In Free Agency Thread

he is under-rated on this board.
I disagree.
Just read this thread.
Almost everyone is saying there is no way we should trade favors for anything short of Anthony Davis.

That doesn't seem like underating him

The (new and improved) Core4 is pretty much set.

Gobert (over Kanter), Favors, Hayward and Exum (over Burke).
Trey was never part of the original core4. It was Hayward, kanter, favors and alec.

Also, Burks going to bring it this year.... Best put him in the core five. Burks is under contract longer than any player on the whole team as well iirc

I agree.

Favors is my third favorite player on the team (Rudy took the #2 spot this past season) and yes he is really good, has a good contract, and likes it here, but if the right trade comes along that improves the team you do it.

Same goes for Burks..... Even Rudy.

Agree with Burks, but hell no on Rudy and Faves. People are taking that ridiculous defense for granted. When we look back at the board next season, this thread is going to look really silly

Having been "core4," I can confirm your statement. I look forward to us having a core-6 this year: Gobert, Hayward, Favors, Exum, Burks and Hood. Really only two players away from where we need to be: a third big and a backup (or starting) PG. Not saying we CAN'T upgrade from those six, but I think that's a very good group, with all having skill sets that are very valuable.

And when this thread DOES get bumped, let me say that I NEVER, EVER considered trading Favors. Not for the 4th pick, not for anyone. He's an integral part of the team and I think Checketts was just stirring the pot. Millsap is ONLY being considered as the 3rd big. There is NO WAY Lindsey is considering messing with the chemistry of this team or pissing off Rudy. Derrick is not only developing into a great PF, but he slides over when Rudy comes out and becomes one of the best backup 5's in the league.

Great post. The top 6 guys are pretty damn good. A core group of Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Hood and Exum will be amazing as they continue to develop. Agree that a 3rd big and backup PG are the keys moving forward and should be the focus for DL and Co. If they can fill those two holes this offseason, plus the team's current role players (Booker, Jingles, Millsap and Burke/Cotton) - it may come together more quickly than expected.

Favors got overshadowed by Gobert's big plays in my opinion, Favors is the perfect fit for Rudy, Favors is sturdy in the block which allows Gobert to roam and pull off the huge blocks we've all come to love. Add that on top of the mid range game he's getting noticeably better at with his speed when he gets the ball on the high post and immediately attacks I think getting rid of Favors would be detrimental to this teams success......

Yes, I failed to address the role players who are pretty damn good if you slot them 9-13. I think it WILL come together more quickly than many expect. Jazz will be competing for home court next season.

Trading Favors or all the crazy moves some you guys are advocating makes no sense at this stage. I just don't understand, I suppose some fans (and journos) need to keep busy in the offseason so just like to dream about shuffling the cards.

This team is going to grow next season, try to go as far as possible with its current core, try to get to the playoffs and have a push. This team is going to try and see how Burks and Hood and Hayward can mesh in the best way, how Burke can be of use, how Exum and Gobert keep growing, etc... Only with a clearer picture in mind of what they have might the FO try to change things.

Sorry guys but this offseason is better boring and slow for the Jazz : draft the BPA, find a way to get a decentish backup 4/5, and just practice and prepare for the season.

That's all that should happen.
Honestly there isn't a chap on our roster where I think "What in the hell is he even doing on our bench? How in gods name does he get minutes?"
Maybe Trey Burke.
[People I say "WTF he doing on our team"]:
Tyrone Corbin
Earl Watson
Jamal Tinsley
Josh Howard

I'm satisfied with what we've got, that being said the extra pieces we pick up I hope are subjected to the bench, I don't want a chance of some self declared vet taking away my Hood/Burks minutes. We saw a LOT of good things done by QS this season. Expect the same, or more this season. Go Jazz!!!

Favors isn't going anywhere, if Quinn is so big on a stretch 4 why was he so goat happy with trying to bring in Tomic?
Our outstanding 2 way player shouldn't even be questioned at this point. He's solid, always has been.

DL always chooses the right guys, and QS always develops them beyond what we expect. Looking for an awesome season, getting an early start this year at both summer leagues. I'm geeking pretty hard right now at Jazz future.
