Really if you think about it they have pretty much come full circle. I mean there are only so many ways any given scenario can play out. They've done the whole infighting thing. Community attacked by bad guys? Check. Fake "good" community turned out to be bad? Check. Cannibals? Check. Brigands? Check. Naive community brought back to the real world? Check. So in some way they are doomed to start repeating themselves.

Wow, cool finale. Lots going on. Very poetic with Rick doing the execution at the end at Deanna's request. I'm happy that they didn't do a total BS cliffhanger like last season... just a fairly small one. It actually felt quite conclusive all-around.
My worry is the same as Cy's. Black-and-white, good vs. evil is uninteresting. The whole Governor storyline was boring as crap; I hope they don't do anything quite that ham-fisted again. Here's hoping the writers keep it interesting for next season.

glenn is still alive. I heard a rumor that they were gonna kill him this season. I hope they stop killing main characters
The main story is not that they have come full circle it is that Rick and his group became Shane. They have embraced his world view and method of doing things. Season 2 or 3 Rick would never have jsut shot that guy. Season 2 and 3 actors would have been right at home in oblivious Alexandria.
So same situation but completely different methods and views.
That's a very interesting insight. Not something I even thought about in regards to past characters and their own style of living.
There are hold outs in the group but for the most part they did.
Biggest examples of this are Rick and Carol. But all of them have gotten more violent and brutal.
Put season 5 Rick and Carol back on the Greene farm in season 2 and him and Shane kick in the front door and point guns at the family and tell them to fall in line or die. Carol hides in the wings and silently kills and threatens any dissenters.

While I'm glad he's still alive as I like his character, If they stopped killing main character's the show would get far too predictable and boring.

This season has been great, started out very slow but the final 3-4 episodes fully pulled me back in. Hopefully it stays that way next season.
I don't like the suggestion that Rick has become Shane.
Shane somewhat unnecessarily injured a guy he was with so that the walkers would go after him instead of Shane. It was murder. Rick still isn't doing stuff like that and I don't think he's going to start.

Rick has already said that they will take and do what they need to in order to survive. That is exactly like Shane. Shane did it for him self, Lori and Carl. Rick simply has a wider group that he will do it for (his group and all the Alexandrians now)
I just hope they kill Carroll soon.
