There's a game on tonight.

I feel like it's kind of nitpicking.

It's like we should take each player and say
Hayward needs to get to the line 0.7 more times per game to be an all star.

Favors needs 1.2 assists per game more. Etc etc.

Each of our starting 5 have strengths and weaknesses and they seem to compliment each other pretty well and play well together as a team.

Maybe just enjoy it for now and let snyder and the players tweak thier games accordingly

I guess there are first times for everything. Exceptions to every rule.
I like what I have seen from Burks last year and this year..... He seems to work hard on his game and improve.
Hopefully you will be satisfied with his game someday even is he doesn't meet the requirements that you set for him

You never said what burks percentages were from the corner and mid range btw

Burks is my favorite player on this roster and has been since we drafted him. I want his game to elevate to All-Star status and he either becomes Dwayne Wade and finishes at 65% at the rim or develops his midrange and 3point game.

Burks is about same as Derozan from the corner (about 40%) but he's 35% from midrange.

As you know, I don't necessarily have a problem with his percentages, but it's more about the distribution. Only 23% of his shots are midrange, and 4.5% from corner 3.

But when we drafted Burks, I said I loved the pick, knew he would be a very solid to great player, and my only real concern was whether he had the interest (or smarts?) to play within a true team concept. I felt like he has been much better, early, than I thought he would be.. but I still retain some of those same early concerns and where that places his ceiling.

My feeling with this is that a lot of it is less to do with interest and more to do with how his abilities align with this system. He is an OK shooter at best, which makes the kind of swing the ball around the perimeter to the open guy game not that great for him.

If he can improve his shot a little bit, I think he could really take off - his drive game is being held back by his inability to shoot consistently from the outside.

It's just wierd to put all these requirements in what you say a player must do to be an all star.

Did he get to the line at a better rate than derozan? Did he shoot better from the paint? Did he shoot better from the elbows and straight away threes? Do those things even matter?

Is it bad that he had a better shooting percentage and three point percentage than derozan since he doesn't take the shots that you want him to?
Or do only your criteria have an effect on the game?

It's not like I think it's a universal requirement. It's more my opinion of what I think he should do to elevate his game and help our team.

I agree with you about Quin though. If he's the coach we think he is, he will make it work with Burks.

Seems that most people consider his drive game to be elite as it stands now.

I can only imagine where it would go when he starts shooting better than his current (last year anyway) 35% from three and 45% from the field.

Let's hope he becomes a great outside shooter...... until then, enjoy the hoodeenees!

Excellent points by fish, PKM and mhindy.

I really don't care if Alec averages 20 pts ort becomes and all star. I keep bringing this up, but the leading scorer during the regular season for World Champs averaged 16.7 ppg. I'm much more concerned with efficiency. Just imagine all five starters averaging 16 pts, with 30 additional points coming from the bench (Exum, Hood, Booker, Gobert, etc.). Balance like that is hard to defend.

I think the whole point of Quin's system is to get a good shot, not necessarily a 3-pt FG. Ball movement should open up opportunities for Alec to drive - and that's his strength. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I don't see a real problem with Alec fitting in.
 
Love it when my team wins Game 1 of the WS, and my other team beats a Western Conf. powerhouse on their floor. Oh yeah, and Trey is shutting up the haters AGAIN.
