They Are Watching You

thats exactly unpatriotic and unamerican of you.
you dont deserve american freedom and rights

you punk.

spying is only ok if a white repub is in office. Otherwise, it's bad.

What's funny, is that the NSA was blasted after 9/11 for not being more aggressive. LOL. If the Golden Gate Bridge or Wall Street were blown up tomorrow by terrorists, the same people wearing their tea party clothes and carrying their LIBERTY OR DIE flags bitching about the NSA spying on us would be bitching about Obama and how the government didn't protect us. Obama should have lost his patience like 5 years ago and told the GOP to go to hell. He should have gone George W all over their asses and stuffed the single payer system, tax increases on the rich, and steep regulations on wall street down Congress's throats. "You're either with us or against us" to unify his own party and to clearly isolate the GOP against the will of the American people.

It's just so sad that the GOP still plays this game better than the Democrats despite not having a solid piece of legislation proposed in over a decade.

It's not 1776 anymore. Lets come to grips with global terrorism and understand that spying will and should occur.

You mean like when Dick Cheney outed Valerie Plume or when Fox News outed the Seal 6 Navy seal who killed Osama.

What's your point here? That because Dick Cheney and Fox News did it everyone should be able to do it? Or, is it just a way of telling Stoked to shut up since "his side" has done the same?

Hopefully you can see how destructive this sort of logic is.

Or the fact the I think the right tramples everything as much as the left. The Patriot Act is the rights baby. But hey lets not get peoples actual stances get in the way or anything.

Why doesn't the 4th Amendment matter? Honest question. Do you think the founding fathers we just filling space when they felt the need to add the right to privacy to our Bill of Rights?

Since no one has anything to hide should the police be able to come into our homes and take a look whenever they'd like? Stop us on our way to work and conduct an hour long search of our vehicle? Stop you on the street and have you empty your pockets?

There is a legitimate concern that a tyrannical government could use such power to retain power and uncover dissenters.

We must have the right to own firearms on the off chance that our government could turn against us but we should give that same government the power to verify our innocence, our purity and our patriotism whenever they feel the need and provide them access to every aspect of our lives?

I'd give up the 2nd before I'd give up the 4th, but that's just me I suppose.

I wish to give up neither. (Yes I know that's not how you meant it).

Once the government has decided you should be investigated, there is no one whose life is so clean that the government can't find dirt by association and innuendo.

problem is the way things are going you would have to give up both.

let some more schools get shot up. and some more Boston marathon stuff happen and you will (voluntary or forcibly) give up both

also 1 thing to note.
there are stupid american laws. but america is also monitoring foreigners who never said foot in the USA. or have nothing to to with us.
yet there are enough stupid American laws(one of the biggest prison systems in the world
eg drug laws.
eg alcohol when 21.
eg if a 19 year old has sex with 17 year old
so what if god forbids(maybe you will find this out there and crazy). america deicdes to force their laws on the world or "particular" countries.
what then

i dont trust governments least of all powerfull governments.

so you gotta nip this in the bud and take down nsa and the government
those are all illegal stuff. but what if i do all those stuff

Well, and for everyone who doesn't want to register their guns yet is meh about the government spying on you I don't get it.

Now, it'd be one thing if this was out in the open and "we the people" had a say and some oversight, but this was done in secret and is not up for review at all. If their acts are just then why does this need to be a secret? Does anyone think that terrorists believe that they aren't being monitored? Does it really hurt to let them know, "yes, you're being monitored"?
