What's new

They did it to us again!

This.

Me, I'm more of a push the envelope kind of guy. I'd prefer to move up over down every time.

Would have taken Xhou Qi at #42, Joel Bolomboy at #52 and either Andrey Desyatnikov or Gracin Bakumanya at #60. Draft and stash and then hope that somebody develops into a legitimate NBA player (or at least a valuable trade asset for down the road.)

The Jazz are not interested in letting other teams develop them talent to steal. That is there job!

Second round pick in a weak draft is not worth paying for. We got a guy we think we can develop in Bolomboy. We are going for vets. We have a rookie. That should be enough for the roster. All of the draft and stash guys were gone when we picked.

Dennis is all about turning $1.00 into $1.25. If that means that we have a guy we really wanted, we would have done a deal. We didn't. So, we turned the pick into a pick + cash.

Probably got the same guy he was looking at taking before he traded down, too. Money for nothing, chicks for free. I want my MTV.

Remember that the Jazz could have up to 6 picks in next years draft (supposedly a very good draft) and 3 more the year after that. Why the hell would we go buying the moldy crumbs of this year's draft that sucks? This draft was exactly 2 players deep, and neither of those guys are a no brainer. If you are going to roll the dice on second round assets, do it next year when we can pick 13% of the second round. This year plenty of second round talent was given first round money. Jazz were smart to pull the ripcord on that steaming pile of refuse before they got stuck like Boston did.

If the Jazz who have shown that they can identify good players late saw nothing worthwhile, it is likely that there wasn't much worthwhile. I'd rather have cash than taking a chance on a Euroscrub that we will never see.

You want to fill the roster with 9 draft picks that most likely have no D league chance? Why not take a chance on the next Wesley Or Milsap or DeMarre?

I want KOC back.

Trading down 13 spots for cash! You know they will not sign whatever they picked at 55 to save even more loot. Why they treat fans like this? Why not trade UP and PAY cash instead? Specially when DL is on record saying there are guys he wanted to draft just before 44? I mean, like how much does a 38 pick cost it is basically free!

Actually, second round picks were going for 3 million not exactly free.

Because the next Wesley Or Milsap or DeMarre were not in this draft, at least in the second round. Dudes that you were making calculated risks like that on were drafted at the end of the lottery and before pick 20. That is horrible value for a pick. Best to sell and reset. I liked Furkan, but in reality dude was second round material.

Next year, because of the quality of the draft, dudes like Furkan will be pushed into the second round where they belong and we can take a flier on four of them if we wish. It is much better to stash a second round pick than a first round for contract issues. With the Jazz scouting system, I am confident we could hit at least once with four chances.

Let's bak the cack.

So why not trade the picks for picks next year instead of giving them away like free candy or taking players who have exactly zero chance of making the team (Paige and Wallace)?
