What's new

They did it to us again!

Second round pick in a weak draft is not worth paying for. We got a guy we think we can develop in Bolomboy. We are going for vets. We have a rookie. That should be enough for the roster. All of the draft and stash guys were gone when we picked.

Dennis is all about turning $1.00 into $1.25. If that means that we have a guy we really wanted, we would have done a deal. We didn't. So, we turned the pick into a pick + cash.

You guys have bought DL's spin 100%. Dennis turned $100 into .01 when he drafted Burke. Or was it that He drafted Trey because he didn't want another team benefitting from Utah developing Giannis. Dennis admitted he tried to trade back up this draft but the guys he liked went before 42. It wasn't "genius" or getting value. It was failure.
And had he waited to do the Atlanta deal, he would have seen a couple of guys fall to #12. Atlanta just wasted that pick. Prince wasn't even projected to go in the 1st. Utah could have even swapped picks and given Atlanta their #42. Just a poor, poor job by Lindsey on getting the best return for a lottery pick.

Millsap's Uncle did all those things. Not Lyndsey. Check your "facts".

This is hilarious.

And to those who say it was a weak draft, the "Burke" draft was likewise considered one of the worst ever for depth. Yet players like Giannis, Schroeder and Gobert were picked after #12. There are ALWAYS gems to be found. You don't just burn assets needlessly. DL didn't really care about this draft. So he didn't get a better deal for our lottery pick. And that's a shame. If in 4 yrs were not talking about a couple of all-stars or very good starters that emerged from this draft at #12 or lower, I'll quit the board.

@Stifle,

I've had your back around here for a few months. But you need to quit your meth habit or we'll both start looking bad. TIA

Will you give yourself a JFC tattoo on your forehead if Bolomboy is an All-Star?

Sorry, I don't get the Millsap's uncle reference. Must be from a thread I've missed. DL was the GM. No matter what he's said, the buck stops at his desk.

So why not trade the picks for picks next year instead of giving them away like free candy or taking players who have exactly zero chance of making the team (Paige and Wallace)?

They traded back their first pick in the second round, they picked the guy from Weber St. who is actually a popular choice, then they just took the best guy possible at #60. There is almost no value with that pick, so you just take a dude to run your SL team and hope that you can put him on your D-League squad.

What I find so amusing is reading how happy everyone is to get Hill, a solid vet, but not all-star caliber.
And this on top of so many threads moaning about the lack of stars on the team...pointing out how it takes stars to contend.
So with that in mind, DL should be trading up, or AT LEAST drafting someone who COULD develop. Instead, the team DOES improve with Hill, but we KNOW he'll never be an all-star. So Utah just burned what might be their last lottery pick on a solid, but non-star player.
Oh, I forgot: Hayward=Lebron and Exum=Irving. So Utah just needs solid vets to surround those two. Reserve me a spot for the championship parade!
