This would be great to:

#1 Give away good players to the Cavs
#2 Frustrate Jazz fans and players
#3 Give the Jazz one horrible record next year

Oh yeah I forgot about his high FT%. Biedrins with a decent FT% is pretty nice. I know it's not sexy but a defensive anchor would be oh so nice. I'm still perplexed that he's described as having a high motor. Dwill_PwnasaurasRex, you're driving the JV bandwagon - can you recommend a video that you think shows off this high motor aspect of his game?
 
Trade #3 for a more than serviceable, above-average defensive C.

Or trade #3 for future pick.

It seems anybody from this draft class will not immediately help the Jazz.

That's what I had read. If the Jazz like him, I don't see Miller having a problem doling out $500K or whatever the NBA max is to help with buyouts. And at #3, his current team could also get more out of him if they charge him, say 1/2 of his rookie salary. Next year maybe there's more depth and he drops 5 spots.

I think it's very doable to work a deal to have him come over this season, with the provision he could play in Europe one more year if there's a lockout. He's an intriguing prospect, as is Kanter. That's the problem nowadays. Rarely do teams get 3-4 years of college to have a player develop before he enters the draft. So most draftees will be extremely raw.

The fact he's never been mentioned by the DNews or anyone else connected with the Jazz might be a good sign. KOC Is a sly dog; if he really like JV, he will probably talk up Williams and Kanter to make sure Minny takes one of those guys instead of JV.
 
Yeah, I think I read what you read. They said something about letting him play in Europe until the lockout ended and then he could ship right out. They just need money.
 
He maybe actually turn out to be decent. But does that warrant a top 3 pick?

Locke the other day said something that made sense to me. He said when you're in the top 5, you don't try and get cute. Why go after these huge gambles/question mark guys? Perhaps we ought to stick with what we know. Dwill and Knight probably are going to be pretty decent ballers. With Jonas, we could easily end up with Darko. What is his ceiling? Kristic? Noah? Even Noah to me, doesn't warrant a top 5 pick.

With him growing so much (growing still) one has to wonder if he'll have durability problems. Oftentimes these types of players have knee and joint problems due to their growth.
 
I really like Valanciunas at #3. Kanter and Valanciunas WOW factor came from a U-18 tournament where they faced each other that had scoutys drooling but if I'm not mistaken not only did Valanciunas team won but he was also the MVP of the tournament.

Locke knock on this guy was kind of laughble. He dismissed what he did in some games cause he was just bigger than everyone else......Well NEWS FLASH. He's 6'11'' with a 7'4'' wingpan. Even in the NBA he will be bigger than just about anyone else. Average height and wingspan of C's in the last 10 years in the NBA draft is 6'9'' and 7'1''. He's bigger than Derrick Favors and you can pack your team with two LONG interior players for the next 10 years. He may not have much of a post game but the dude dunks pretty much everything within 5'' of the basket. And he leads the euroleague in rebounds per minute this year. That's the Euroleague and not his national league. That's playing against teams from Lithuania, Russia, Israel, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Trukey, Greece, etc. That's the best in the world outside the NBA. If you believe Millsap and Faried can translate their rebounding from LSU or Morehead State to the NBA why not give the same benefit of the doubt to the guy that does pretty good in the Euroleague. He won't be ready to contribute right away. But with Jefferson, Millsap and Favors and maybe Okur the Jazz don't need him to contribute right away. If he can start to contribute by March or April like Hayward did that would be a BIG bonus. Rome wasn't built in a day and I'm pretty sure the Jazz won't either.

Supposedly they have played a ton of games against each other. Early on I think Kanter always got the upper hand, but towards the latter years of their rivalry Jonas started pwning him.
