This season was a failure

Everyone in the organization needs to be reassessed. That includes Quin (who I like) and Lindsey (who I also like). Even with all of the injuries, this team should've made the playoffs in the weakest western conference we've seen in over a decade.

For the record, I'm not talking full-blown rebuild, but everyone should be sick to their stomach and feeling heat at the very least.
 
Oh lyoto did I mention we have a zillion draft picks to improve that GOAT team? And does anybody know if Harpring or Ostertags contracts are still on the books? We could use them as salary filler to acquire another star. Jazz are in the best position they have ever been in.
 
Also Boris putting in work to get his ability to create threads granted lol.
 
Mixed year. Tons of injuries have to play into account for not missing the playoffs. At the same time there were plenty of winnable games late in the year that also would have equaled a playoff spot. You can't lose to the Clippers at home when they are 4 starters down. You can't lose to a bad Brooklyn team at home or get swept by the Magic. I would not say this season was a failure, but it certainly was not a success either. It was basically a throw away year where the team did not improve enough to get excited, but with all the injuries you still need to see more evidence before you make drastic changes. Hopefully Lindsay at least explores his options this Summer.

I'm not sure we are a full treadmill team per se. We had an inordinate amount of injuries and have a few young guys who have significant upside. Lots of reasons to believe we won't be here next year. I think of treadmill teams as teams that are stuck where they are with no assets to move up.

That said... Would have liked to have shown more improvement and I agree with your other post about reevaluation at all levels. I think it is more roster based for me though. I think long term you need to pick either Rudy or Favs... I don't know who I would pick and it may depend on what was offered to me.
 
Frustrating/disappointing: yes
Failure: no

Favors & Gobert played just over 60 games, Burks just over 30. Exum missed the entire season. A rookie 2nd round draft pick/Shelvin Mack was our starting PG. IMO it's impressive that this team was even in playoff contention despite all of the injuries & lack of depth because of it.

The worst thing about this season wasn't that we missed the playoffs, it was that our team's overall progression was delayed by a year. This is a major potential problem due to the fact that our ability to retain Hayward likely hinges entirely on the results of next season.

That being said, assuming we don't lose Hayward for nothing, this team is still on the trajectory to becoming one of the better teams in the NBA. Hopefully they can add that missing piece or 2 in order to make it truly championship caliber.

It's kind of like how OKC missed the playoffs last season largely due to injuries. We're still immeasurably better on defense without Kanter, who is an impressive offensive powerhouse but still comes off the bench with OKC as he was doing in Utah, interesting.
