I don't think so. Maybe Gordo belongs to the Dark side. Without a doubt, it's pretty clear that Gordo is not God. That is, unless you consider the Dark Lord as the ruler of us all.

Expecting an objectively successful season from this young roster is not realistic. Expecting flashes of greatness and promise to get a lot better in regards to a solid team system is realistic. What makes this team exciting is the possibility of the team they can build into and witnessing them get there.

Like the Phoenix game: flashes of brilliance.

The only game that had me excited last season was the win over OKC when Gordon went mano-a-mano with Durant in the 4th quarter. Yes, Trey's buzzer beater was nice. But it was against a crappy team playing to lose. Already Utah has had a great, statement win against a quality opponent. And in all 3 games thus far, Jazz have had 5 players in double figures. That's the kind of balance Utah needs.

How about steady progress from the young players learning a new system? Or do the Jazz need to make the playoffs to have an "objectively successful" season?

I would be fine with your description of objective but what I have meant with that word was the average NBA franchise fan's thoughts about a certain team that can be considered as succesful -you know, making the playoffs as underdogs bla bla bla.
 
We won a rested home game against an early season, out of shape, back to back road game team. Celebrations around.

If we win today, it will be because the Clips are tired, right? I really hope we end up with better than expected record if only to see how you'll dismiss the achievement.
