For being not being athletic he sure can rebound. From what I hear he's a lot more athletic than people give him credit for.
He's near Babbit and Aminu on his pre-draft numbers with 30" no step and 34" max (Babbit is 29, 37, Aminu is 27, 33.5) He has ~ same speed as Aminu, Babbit is a tad faster in the lane. Aminu is has standing reach of 9'0 Haward has 8'7.
So Baby, you are right - with respect to his basic measurements. His rebounding is a bit lower than those two (8, 9, 10 for GH, LB, AA)
So with a little more data this guy isn't so crazy of pick:
1. Athetically closer than I thought to his peers
2. Has the proven history of being a winner, HS and taking his underdog Butler so far in NCAA - main guy, (unlike Davis, Patterson, Aldrich)
3. Has enough evidence to show he can be a shooter - freshman year + FT% (82%) which is a good indicator or overall hand-eye coordination. Shot 4 3pts per game sophmore year. If one per game is always his to take for last second crap shot as goto guy, that cuts your % down considerably with only few attempts. (Maybe this one game video pumped up his freshman year percentages...)
4. Assuming (haven't seen enough) his 'on-court awareness" and "BB IQ" attributes are good as advertised
Then he could be a player. Kevin Martin is a pretty good player and he doesn't have "all that." John Stockton didn't have "all that..." Stromile Swift had "all that" and wasn't. So there are possibilities here.
