WASHINGTON (AP) — Inflation at the wholesale level jumped 1% in June, pushing price gains over the past 12 months up by a record 7.3%.

The Labor Department reported Wednesday that the June increase in its producer price index, which measures inflation pressures before they reach consumers, followed a gain of 0.8% in May and was the largest one-month increase since a 1.2% rise in January.

For the 12 months ending in June, wholesale prices are up 7.3%, the largest 12-month increase since the government began the current series on wholesale prices in 2010.

While last week's [consumer price inflation] data already confirmed end-prices are rising at the fastest clip in more than a decade, the PPI showed no let up in sight with intermediate costs continuing to pick up further back in the pipeline," wrote Wells Fargo economist Sarah House in a note to clients.

This is "good"

You guys are trying to tell me paying 300% more for lumber is good, a roll of 6/3 wire that used to be $230 is now over $500. Water heaters have went up over $150 per unit. Copper per foot is up over a dollar. PVC has went up anywhere from ,20 for 1/2" to $1.50 for 6", per foot. That's a lot of money for irrigation experts (something illegals do outside of picking fruit like racist guy claims). Nuts and bolts have had a dramatic increase that's coming next month. Our paint went up $1 per can in March.

Basically every item in my store is going up daily. Things like shark bite fittings, abs, abs glue(twice in 6 months), vinyl letters, open/closed signs, soaps, spray paint, o-rings, trimmer line, roundup, air filters, electrical boxes, receptacles... Hell literally I'd say 75% of my store. And that's just hardware.... That's not even including things like gas and groceries.

How in God's name is this good? Basic... and I mean very basic economics is definitely not Democrats strong suit. Now another 3.5 Trillion dollars is being forced through by dictatorship..
Where does this mass amount of $$$ come from?!

Why do you never answer questions?

You said inflation is good, explain... How is inflation, the highest it's been since Obama 2009 good?
Quite frankly, I'm not an economist. Any explanations or debates between us would be ill-informed and pointless. So, here's a clearly written link by an expert. I expect if you want to continue this line of discussion, you'll produce a similar link that specifically addresses low levels of inflation.

Lumber prices (and everything else) will go back down as the economy normalizes. The economy behaved in similar ways after the pandemic of 1918-1919, to my understanding.

I can appreciate how, as hardware store manager, this is particularly difficult for you.

YOU PROVIDED A LINK!!!! BY GOD I FINALLY GOT TO YOU!!!!

Many economists, businessmen, and politicians maintain that moderate inflation levels are needed.

Key word "moderate" not record breaking btw. I'm still aghast at an actual link though.

The BLS reported that the CPI rose 0.9 percent from May, nearly double what Wall Street analysts had predicted, leading to a year-over-year CPI increase of 5.4 percent, the highest in 13 years

The core inflation growth statistic, which just measures the increase in consumer goods, minus energy and food, showed a 4.5 percent year-over-year increase, which is the highest since 1991.

Because, link now, even though you've seen a link, you're still arguing the point without actually absorbing the link.

We've had a very serious recession in the last 13 years, and a 5.4% rate is not even close to "record-breaking".

From CNN

New York(CNN Business)Prices keep rising in the United States, putting a squeeze on American consumers' wallets. That trend got worse in June

Do I have to define squeeze and worse for you? Read this... You'll understand BASIC economics.

So you think CNN is a trusted news source now? Please answer yes or no.

In ay case, the cause of this inflation, according to the article you linked, are the current supply chain shortages. These will be rectified by businesses in due course. Why don't you trust the American economy? Why do you hate capitalism?
